Re: Bud 7/24 - Time to increase dose.
I can't fault you for your decision to stop the med that causes her to hide from you. What kind of life is that when they run and hide every time they see you? I have also stopped meds for that reason.
It's not a decision I take lightly. I consider quality of life, and length of life for the meds that are supposed to be given for the rest of their lives. I had to stop giving Charlotte hyper-T meds because she did the same hiding thing every time I walked into the room, but also because she can't tolerate the drug. I found I could give it to her in a pill pocket, but even the tiniest dose cause her to start vomiting after it builds up in her system.
With Beau I had to drop his heart med to once a day because he was very good about getting his pill for a while, but then he started hiding too. With once a day he was back to hopping up on the couch to get his pill - and not hiding. At the time his life expectancy was 3-5 years, so I considered quality of his life over those years and realized I might be cutting that down to the lower end, but he enjoyed life better. Turns out that the 5 years came and went 5 years ago!
