Re: Bud update . . .

Although the possibility of raw food getting/having bacteria is there, it's there in ANY food we feed. The pet food companies are far from perfect. So I wouldn't worry about what your vet thinks about the raw livers. Does Bud also get food with taurine and other nutrients in it? Then she'll be fine getting some raw liver now and then, just make sure you keep it cold and wash your hands before handling it, if you touch it and wash any utensils in hot, soapy water. I would hand wash them rather than use dishwasher, but maybe that's just old-school me.

If you'll consider giving sub-Qs at home, you might eliminate another trip to the vet after tomorrow's.

I hope Her Grumpiness feels better soon!

She's getting LC friskies canned with Parmesan on it . . . which she normally eats. and I boil and freeze chicken into 'cupcakes' with broth for her. She won't eat fish nor beaf liver.

Yup... going to get hands on instruction with subq and b-12 tomorrow. Seems like the subq's going to be an on going thing, now.

Check Dr. LIsa's site about feeding raw. She really stresses having the proper nutrients added as she has seen clients who read that it's better to feed raw food to cats, but the clients miss the part about supplementing with taurine and other vitamins so the cat becomes deficient and maybe ill.

Re: Bud update . . .

We picked up the vitamins and taurine at our local health food store. I know you can order them online...I think Dr. Lisa referenced a website along with her raw food recipe.

Re: Bud update . . .

Yeah, I order from iHerb also and they have a lot more stuff than supplements and free shipping with I think it was $40 purchase. Reference Dr. Lisa on amounts needed.
