<40 BG in PM - could food have made the difference?

So yesterday my girl wasn't that interested in her normal Weruva slide n serve chicken and chicken liver dinner (46% pro, 43% fat, 7.60% carbs). So, I fed her FF Chicken feast classic pate, senior 7+ (.5% carbs), which she appears to love and I save for when she won't eat her normal food. Could the lower carbs have been the reason she dropped so low?

She has been in the 100 to 300 range for a few days until this last PM. The only thing that changed was her food.

Not sure of FF for her kidneys - high creatinine levels, reason I switched to high protein with lower phosphorus. FF does have higher phosphorus.

Have you posted on the Lantus forum too. She earned a reduction but she’s already at .5 unit so I’m not sure what that’s going to look like @tiffmaxee wdyt?

The new dose will be .25. It’s SLGS an drop under 90 earns a reduction. That being said her overall numbers are high. How often are you feeding her? It would be good to feed the curve to prevent reductions. The Libre has been known to read lower than the cat actually is so it would be a good idea to check with a human meter and ear prick when you see a very low number.

I feed her every 2-3 hours and leave a big dish out overnight for her.

If you lowered carbs it can definitely lower the BG. Some cats become diet controlled diabetics and no longer need insulin. She’s not there but could be eventually. She first needs to get used to normal BG numbers with insulin.

Her normal Weruva slide n serve chicken and chicken liver dinner is 7.6% carbs. Yesterday all day and evening she ate FF, which is .5% carbs. I didn't realize there was such a difference. That's why I was wondering if the LO was due to the insulin or food. Not sure where to go from here.

If you read the posts that Wendy mentioned above you will see that both are low carb so I’m am not sure that it was just the food. The food is made in large batches so all are estimates. To complicate things further syringes aren’t exact either. That’s why many use digital calipers.
