I'm not sure how many times a day I should be testing Star, but he is voting that once is enough. :mrgreen: So I'm trying to vary the mealtime that I test around. Yesterday was lunch; today will be dinner. Star is still a happy camper. Today the weather is pretty gloomy, so he and Maggie have both taken the opportunity to nap quite a bit. I was also out of the house all morning, so he didn't have his best friend to keep him occupied. Feels like things are getting back to normal around here.

Oh, yesterday when I went by the vet's office to pay the pet sitter and pick up my house key, I took a printout of Star's spreadsheet. The techs were very impressed at my skills. :lol: :lol: I gave credit where credit is due and heavily promoted this site and message board. They wrote it down so they can pass the info along to other people with diabetic cats.

Hi Phyllis! Some members test more, some less on an OTJ trial. When K was on his, I just got the AMPS and PMPS, and as long as he was green, that was it. I've seen some members test more frequently when they see a blue number. If you get a blue pre-shot value, maybe test at +1 or +2 to see how the pancreas is reacting to food?

Thanks, Courtney, I'll do that. His usual pattern around meals is all greens with a slight rise at +1 (after food) and then a little bit of a drop at +2, which is pretty standard, I've read. Star was a little perturbed when I tested him yesterday, after a nice four-day break, but I promised him it's temporary and that he won't have to endure any more of those 13-poke test days as long as he sticks to his new diet and exercise regimen. :lol: :lol:
 
I tested at AMBG and PMBG too:) Now she's wondering where all the treats twice or more daily went so I have to find new reasons and times to give them :lol: Happy Day 8!!! :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :RAHCAT
 
I just tested at two totally random times per day for the two-week trial with Bob. Nothing but green. :-D

Thanks, everybody! I like the idea of random testing, Carl. That way I can spring it on Star, and he'll never see it coming. :twisted:
