Hank- AMBG 83
When we got up, his overnight food was seemingly untouched (leftover instinct lamb mixed w/ his wellness) so he was hungry. I fed him so AMBG pushed a little later.

Finicky today. Didn't like last night's leftovers, opened a can of SOrganic liver- no go, wellness chicken- staple- OK.
2+ hours later after BG, try to mix some of one of the opened cans in the fridge TO the wellness NO-
He sits with 3 bowls in front of him, and one rejected full bowl on counter (now past prime) waiting to be tossed. He still stands at door to garage where his brothers dry bowl is. That ISN't HAPPENING, get over it. Plain ol' wellness chick- OK again.

BUT Elvis, my civvie, who doesn't like wet, stops & EATS SOME OF THE CANNED LIVER!! he has access to wet all the time..they are out for Hank most of the day. He walks by uninterested, refuses when asked, ..but HE ATE THIS! It was just a few bites, but I'm so happy.

Them back to naps..me back to the grind.

Looking good for Day 6 Betty!!!!

Yay Hank, now stop being such a finicky eater and be more like your buddy Max.
He eats everything I put in front of him (antijinx)

Hey Hank, food is good! It keeps Mr. P working. How about spicing it up w/ a little freeze dried chicken or liver powder. Or Fortiflora, it has the same flavor enhancers they spray on the dry food to entice cats.

so you've got the buffet going at your place too! how funny is that.

i'm having an issue with evo, so thought I'd trick em yesterday - I mixed evo and FF and the bowl sat untouched until this am, when I put in the outside kitties food.

and mine do look longingly at the dry food container (used for outside ferals only) and keep hoping that I'll leave it open or drop some or something.

happy day 6!

Yeah..he's eating OK...just what HE wants when HE wants.

There were a couple days he had me worried about getting enough nutrition. But he's been eating decent the last couple. He just got all picky today and continuing to milk this situation to wrap me further around his finger.

The weight loss looks pretty good on him....just want him to not go too fast and worry me. On the other hand, I've managed to gain nearly 10 lbs through this.

When I just checked, even the bowl with the liver was empty...I'm thinking Elvis finished it which would be a miracle. (he's my wet hating boy)

Thanks for all the continued good wishes everyone. He's having a good day today! +6- 79 :)

Hi Betty, I have meant to post to you too but dealing with so much over here ( I posted back to you in my condo too!) YOu guys are doing awesome! I love seeing Hank's great numbers every day, can you believe day 6 already??? I think you will be so happy once you get the dental out of the way. As you know that whole process (dental and absess removal) didn't affect Scrabble's numbers at all which I am shocked at and his teeth look so much better and no more bad breath! I know the stress but I am sure once it is over you will be so happy you did it. Any appt planned or are you playing it by ear???? Again thanks for posting such a nice message in my condo, it helps me so much when people can understand what I am going through!

Hi Betty & Hank, I can't believe it's Day 6 already! It seems like you just started this whole diabetes thing!!! Wow, you both are doing great. It's a riot about the food buffet. You could try offering only 1 food at a time. Eventually he'll eat it because he's hungry. (When we used to visit my Aunt Lottie as kids, if we didn't eat something at mealtime, she'd put it away and bring it out again at the next meal--cold. We learned quickly to clean our plates!)

Keep up the good work!

We've had a good day! Hank seems great. He hung out on the stairs since late afternoon. I just got in from running errands, grabbed a bite and hurried to tend to him since he hadn't eaten since +6. I got online for a few minutes in the middle of all that, and low and behold when I walked back to the kitchen, there he was sitting on his test spot waiting on me. I told him we weren't doing it just yet...but then found myself rushing through dinner anyway so we could 'do' him.
Even without the timer on anymore, that sense of needing to hurry is still there.
So I head back in and there is he again, jumped back up on his 'spot' . I don't know if it's hearing the microwave (rice sock) or what,..I actually think it's when he hears me snap the strip vial shut, but he hops up there and assumes the position. It really is awfully cute.

Let me see what the other kitties are doing since I've been gone.

Hope everybody's having a good friday night!

Looking good Hank  You sailed through day #6.

Seems like tody was picky eater day in the kitteh world. Wish they'd send us memos. If they are going to snub it all we could at least put out the cheap stuff.

SUCH a funny description of Hank's food reactions. He sounds just like Kitty.

Isn't it wonderful when we see them actually eat and enjoy it?

Beautiful day. Wishing you more!

Thanks Jill, he had a good day today. We've been very lucky..i was thinking that today. Even when he had mid-90's, it was scary...so i really do understand the angst & worries of the other trial mommie-beans. This stage is just as scary. You never know what you're gonna get. but we've been smooth sailing for a minute (anti-jinx) I'm just so happy he is feeling good...that's most important. Makes me happy.

Thanks for keeping an eye on us! Love everybody checking in and supporting my Hank!

Hi Kathy-

we must have crossed. He actually ate pretty good today...just a bit picky. I have to remember though, that he was on dry food, which was abruptly yanked from him. Then he was pretty sick by the time I figure he had this, then went untreated awhile & got sick, sick before i got him on insulin. I think he is just a bit different cat now. His appetite is adjusting. He does seem to like wet food, just not all of it equally.

But mostly he is just not as driven by food as he was in the past. He may have had diabetes a long time before i figured it out..and maybe hence his old bigger appetite. I am still on such a learning curve with everything. Even now during our trial...I know how important a role food plays in all this, yet not sure what the rules are exactly and how they apply to Hank where he is now. I know he needs to eat. So I encourage him.
Tonight after no food since late afternoon snack, he seemed only mildly interested in dinner...even though it was Wellness (which he ate even before the FD)
he seemed hungry, but ate only a couple bites and walked off. I grabbed the bowl and blocked passage and put it in front of him again. Nope. Not interested.
SO.....i grabbed some mushy (water/micro) wet chicken Wellness in the palm of my hand and he EATS IT. HAND FED he would do.
I don't get it. I did that early on when he was so sick and sleeping all the time. But now he's totally capable & just working me. But he ate the better part of his dinner from my hand!

go figure. Wellness chicken ala' mommie-pheromone. THAT one he likes.
