Rather than piggyback on Butthead's condo rental, I chose to open a new one. A few days ago there was a liquipoo explosion here. It's my civvie Holleigh-berri, and she's still pooing that way. Appetite is a bit off, but she will eat some. Butthead has been having some loose poo as well. I called to see if I could get some Fortiflora, but since he is not actively being seen by the vet who removed his original tumors, they said I would have to get it by prescription through Angell in Boston. Our primary vet is a one-man operation who likely does not have it and is not open at this time anyway.
I did pick up some slippery elm since I did a "liquipoo" search and it sounded like that was effective. I will look at eBay/Amazon to order some Fortiflora to have on hand. Until then, what can I do? I'll try the slippery elm, but what about human-type probiotics or stuff like Immodium?
Now on to Donovan. For some time he has had some swelling/lumpiness near his lower lip. It looked a little more swollen yesterday, and this morning I saw that it was starting to bleed. Periodically it seems to express itself of whatever is in there, but I hadn't seen it bleed like this before. I wiped it off and pressed some tissues to it, and then put some antibiotic on it. I'm guessing that it is some sort of infection, which in addition to his bad teeth may be causing his higher BGs recently. But his vet appt for dental and bloodwork isn't until April 19. Should I be more aggressive and try to get him in sooner? (that was the first opening, however). Donovan is otherwise acting fine and eating well. He doesn't seem to have liquipoo (yay).
thanks...
