<sigh!> Does anyone dose 4 times a day with ProZinc? I'm beginning to think we need to go that way. His preshots are creeping up, even though I'm getting mostly yellows and blues between shots. It bothers me that he goes from 135 at +4 to 446 at pre-shot (4 hours later). He's not snacking between shots... Just about the time I think we need to increase his dose, he throws a low number. When he throws the high ones, I stick to the normal dose -- should I bump it? I'm afraid if I do that, he'll start bouncing...

I don't think it will work, Susan. The way +8 (TID)works is to catch the rise. Dosing at +6 would most ilkely mean overlap and more drastic drops and then bouncing. His nadir is often +6 or even later.

What about skinnying up the dose a smidge and see if that helps the bouncing. I also wonder if 11/13 would work or it would be too confusing keeping it straight 3X.

So, give him LESS insulin each time? By just a hair?

When we're gone (we've only done this once, but will be going on vacation with grandson in June for about 5-6 days), the cat sitter gives his shots at about 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. -- is that like 10/14? His numbers weren't horrible then (it was March 15 and 16) and there were no between shots tests. For that weekend, I did draw up his shots in advance, but I don't typically do that.

I think you just try any options you come up with, as long as they are safe, Susan. You have already tried the Ls, right? So experimenting with ProZinc seems the best plan. I'd try something for a few cycles. If it doesn't improve things, I'd try something else.

My idea with a smidge less is to keep the lows up a little and soften the bounces. No idea if it will work.
