One of the best days since I started monitoring. Today was the first day on the Young Again zero carb food and it made a difference in the numbers. She is still getting 1 unit and the new food. She is acting like her usual self but a little more happier. She is a very friendly cat. They type that greets strangers at the door and will meow and harass them until you pet her. I'm starting to see that side coming back.

Another note I do have a consultation with DR Lisa for advice etc. It is more for me to show my husband I am not doing voodooon the cat. That the things I am learning come from a board certified vet who knows their stuff!

With the carb reduction in her diet, you may want to try to get an extra test here and there. I know it's hard, especially with an uncooperative cat, but it really is needed, since she may drop considerably on her new diet. Hypo can be deadly and the only way to know where she is, is to test.

Hope the young again works well, wish I could afford it, I've heard good things about it.

Hang in there, you're doing great. :thumbup

The little brat did let me test her this morning! She was 313. I wish I could test her during the day. I might be able to sneak home during lunch to test her. She still is really hungry and the other cats still want to steal her food. It is a process. My other cats will eat wet food but still love the dry food. So the stalk her. I have to sit with her while she eats so they leave her alone!

The Young Again is expensive but its the same price I was paying for the DM from my vet and it is better for her. If she is the only one eating it I should get a little bit of time out of it.

If you can sneak away at lunch, maybe just for the 1st couple days on the new food, I would, just to be safe. With the drop in carbs, she may warrant a dose decrease and you want to be aware of it.

I was a mean momma, I made my cats go cold turkey off the dry. I still have one that doesn't care too much for most of it, but there is a couple she'll eat and she gets a crunchy treat occasionally, but she's not diabetic, so I'm not worried about her in that aspect. Hopefully keeping the 2 civvies off the dry will help to prevent the same thing happening, since I know that dry food is a major contributing factor to FD, at least the carb laden dry anyway.

My Lucian is extremely fickle when it comes to his food...what he loves today, he won't eat tomorrow or even tonight! I always have 3-4 cans open at any given time, since it's a crap shoot which one he'll eat at each meal. Luckily, I have a feral that will eat just about anything, although she likes some more than others, she'll still eat them all. :-D

I wish I could have gotten Abigail off of dry cold turkey. She was already diabetic and picky! She has to eat so the vet said the dry DM would be OK. But the numbers aren't lying. She had better numbers yesterday on the new food. She never liked wet food but the others will eat it!
