Just got a call from my pet sitter - Walter's BG is 67 at shot time. :eek: She's panicked, Walter is hollering for food and I just want to go home. I just don't get how this could have happened. I reduced his dose by 0.75 units on Wednesday.

Luckily, he's eating fine (she went straight to HC food) and didn't give insulin.

And here I thought that my reduction would keep him safe.
 
Thank goodness she's testing - Walter is safe because of that! I am sure this is distressing for you. So she's completely skipping the shot, right? Given the circumstances, that's probably a good idea, and Walter will be fine.
 
If she's skipping the shot, and the meter is a human type , she doesn't need the high carb food. That'll just take him way up.
 
Walter is on a mission and apparently wants you to come home! Happy that the kitty sitter skipped the shot! He will be fine!
 
Skipping the shot was a good idea. Let that depot drain even more! He should be safe with the skipped shot and food available. Breathe. And thank the goddesses your sitter tests!k

Oh boy, this is a scare for you. Glad she is skipping the shot. I agree with BJM that if he's getting no shot, he doesn't need the HC food.
 
I'm glad the petsitter tested and is skipping the shot. Is she leaving some extra food out for him? I think LC will be fine. :bighug::bighug:
 
Holy smokes! Walter will recover from the skipped shot and thank goodness the sitter is testing. Hope you get to go home soon :bighug:
 
My pet sitter had already given him the HC food when I talked to her - honestly, I'm glad that she erred on the sue of caution. She's never taken care of a diabetic cat before and the main thing I kept telling her is that it's the low numbers that are much scarier. And she obviously took that to heart.
 
Walter is testing the sitter. Why should she not have some fun. The sly boy. Smart on skipping, you trained her well.
 
I think your petsitter was smart to give the HC in this circumstance. We don't know if he was going up or if he was still dropping. I agree with you - erring on the conservative side in a situation like this was wise.

Does she know to reduce the next shot further?
 
I don't think I've ever been so glad to come home! I finally made it back from the conference and I am currently listening to Walter tell me all about his day. :)

I have no clue how those numbers could possibly make sense (both the low number this morning and the mega bounce), but I'm happy that he's already heading back down.

I think I might have to check up on other condos in the morning. I'm so tired I can hardly keep my eyes open.
