well, suddenly numbers are normal which feels nice.
have gone to giving her a little piece of lunchmeat ham ( yes it still has some sugar) as her treat.
It seems to be making her feel better.

I used it to give her her shot this morning so she was a little more cooperative ( but just barely)

I recently lost most of my hearing, but Shadow is still purring when I hold her. I can feel it.
She and I had a short btb after her shot.
She didn't snuggle but she laid by me and rolled over on her back.

still liquipoo...
should get a delivery today of cerenia and gabapentin....
so we'll have to see how the gabapentin does....

she's had the cerenia.... I just requested pills instead of the shots...
the gabapentin is the new one... replacing bupenorphine which the current local vet is scared of.

I started pearls for her probiotic yesterday . She doesn't want fortiflora anymore and that proviable is sugary like hairball remedies. ( and didn't seem to work anyway)

I looked up leukeran and there sure are a lot of negatives.

I know it is scary and you don't want to go there unless you have no other options. My Tiffany likely had IBD and loose stool but just once a day. When she started vomiting her food I thought she was eating too fast. In retrospect it was IBD from the kidney diet that morphed to intermediate cell lymphoma. It is an aggressive one. I mention this because it is my belief that if you can't find a way to stop the diarrhea with medication and/or novel diet then you need to try something else. I doubt you are dealing with what Tiffany had but you want to get a handle on this before she weakens.

I'm going to make a suggestion that you join the new feline small cell group. The vet that responds to the original group responds there too. Write a lengthy intro and see what advice you get. I know so many on leukeran have done well. IBD will be addressed as well and Dr. Jory is a great second or in your case third opinion.

Yeah for feeling good. :):):)

There is a range of dosing for this one. If you don't see anything at first (we gave it a week), then see if the vet is willing to increase the amount. We doubled it, and still didn't see any change, other than more sleepy. What is the vet's concern with bupe? Neko's been on it for over a year. I know Shadow's been on it for a while too.

I think it's because it's a narcotic. And this is New Mexico. I'm sure it's everywhere but just to buy claritin d , they have to keep records of how often you buy it.
And she doesn't seem to know her stuff.... I probably will have to go to the other vet and get back to the bupe if this drug doesn't work.
I know she's not that on top of the game, she believes in science diet.
And thinks wet food is too high protein for cats.... and that cats need carbs......
but she knows I have an arsenal of argument against her on food so she'll make little speeches and then cut me off if I try to explain.
and we get right back to.... I'll leave the food to you.

Bupe is a controlled substance here too, and I have to get a new prescription each time - no refills. But it just means using a special prescription pad and filing the appropriate copies. Course it means I get dinged a prescription writing fee every 3 months.

I'm glad Shadow's numbers are nice today and glad she enjoyed some ham. I second Elise's suggestion to post on one of the yahoo groups...I recently posted on the original feline lymphoma group for a third opinion after Billie's ultrasound when our IM vet suggested IBD or lymphoma, and I got incredibly helpful input from Dr. Jory. You can include Shadow's current status, past ultrasound findings, symptoms, food, meds, etc. He is quite an expert and looks at everything from all angles. Most vets seem to have a blind spot or two. I was really impressed with him.

Sending lots of vines to you and Shadow

is that the yahoo group? facebook group?
I joined several of those....
I'm not a fan of facebook.... I really prefer our format here with the message board.
I will go look for Dr. Jory.
