He has been low at shot time for a few days then goes up in between. ???
I have skipped once the other night and shot lower the night before that. I will update the SS this AM,
But what should I do with the 83 this AM? He is at 2.50 U ???
I am not feeling the best with shooting a 83.
I will be in and out today.

How long will you be home after shot time? (Do you have strips, HC, etc?)

Given what Oliver's numbers look like when you skip, I don't think skipping helps him out all that much. It looks like you decided to give him a reduced dose. Remember that stalling is also an option so you know what direction the numbers are going.

FYI - check the dates on the last 3 days of your SS. You have the month as January.

I am feeding and going with another reducie as he is starving and its getting later in the day for Us AMPS.

Isn't it Jan? LOL I am glad it not but oh boy pre coffee I guess. UGH
Yes I have strips and food and syrup etc....and I do not HAVE to go if he needs me today. The Dog is out of food but could have daughter get it.
He ate very well... I stalled for a bit before then decided to feed and give him a 1.5 U
Should I have shot a full dose at an 83? Just makes me uncomfortable. ???

Kelly --

If you're going to stall, you don't want to feed. If you feed, there's a good chance that the food will influence the numbers and you won't know if numbers are going up independent of the effect of the food. Typically, if you stall, you don't feed and re-test every 20 min. or so in order to "catch" when the numbers start to rise.

That said, an 83 is a fine number to shoot. It's more for your confidence that we suggest working your way down to shooting green numbers. If you look at Gabby's SS, Gracie's SS or the SS of anyone that's been around for a while, you'll see that we shoot pretty much any number that's above 50. If this were me, I would have shot the full dose. Also, if you are following TR, an 83 doesn't warrant a dose reduction.

I'd suggest getting a +1 and a +2 test. Getting the early tests when you're shooting lower numbers is very important. If you see that numbers are dropping early in the cycle, it allows you to intervene with HC food.

Kelly;

Have a look at Davidson's SS and you will see I have been shooting him in the 50's for ages without issues, and at times even in the 40's since I am here to monitor him. As Sienne mentioned it is safe, but also don't reduce the dose as they need to stay on the same dose until such time as they earn a reduction...............it's your comfort level, not the cats.
