Previous Condo.

After two days of greens, I think I disrupted the flow by switching back to the vial this morning (to see if it's still good). ohmygod_smile This might still be a bounce, but I'm almost certain now that even though there are no floaties and the vial is still clear that the Lantus is no good. I'm switching back to the pen tonight and will revisit using the vial sometime next week after he's held green for longer than a couple of days.

Ooo! This is giving me some fantastic ideas. I'm still stuck with the fact that our new vinyl fencing SUCKS ARSE  and I can't attach anything to it, but this has gotten my creative juices flowing and I think I'm just going to give property management the middle finger and freaking super glue stuff to it (if it'll hold).
The super glue sounds like a *disaster* in the making to me.

Perhaps Marje will give us a virtual tour of Gracie's Catio?

I would LOVE to see Marje's Catio! I had read somewhere about angling things off the fence at 45 degrees can deter cats from jumping, but again, I'm so limited because of that f-ing fence that any ideas (short of caging) are welcome!

Speaking of Henry and his insatiable desire to roam free, he is 7 months old today! I was trying to find him to do his bi-monthly weigh-in, but he's obviously off on some grand adventure in the great suburban sprawl that is Orange County.

Here he is being absolutely naughty by sitting on my table so he can play with the pussy willows in my vase.

    You're post is freaking hilarious :-D :-D :-D :-D I got quite a chuckle out of it~too funny! It's a good thing we don't live in a "community" because it would be kind of like having Miss Kay & Phil (DD) as your neighbors....we'd be told to leave immediately, I'm sure....And before I forget: I'd go with duct tape in place of the super glue...

I suggested the duck tape to my brother and he said that it never holds for long in the sun and the salty moisture (we live near the beach). We had already tried those sticky strips that come on the back of the "all-weather, indoor-outdoor" hooks and in the first rain we had last winter, everything we'd been using it to hold up immediately came down...including the hooks it came with! :o

And, in more unfortunate news, Henry just caught himself the mate of the previous bird.

I'm a little late to the conversation, sorry. It's dark now so i can't do a virtual tour but here are a couple pics of the catio.

My close friend is Ollie's mom and she and her husband made their catio. They were able to include part of their yard and they built a fish pond, too. They were able to use screen. We can't....too many predators. We also have to be careful in our neighborhood about keeping the architecture of the house the same. So we just took a front patio and had flagstone put down and then enclosed with expanded sheet metal and had the metal painted to compliment the house. We don't have any grass and to make it any larger, we'd have had to change the architecture. But it is inside a courtyard with a huge mesquite tree and tons of birds, ground squirrels, and lizards so the cats have many things to watch. They can see a pretty good distance from the top of the tall condo. I also have one more condo in it now but you can't see it from the angle of the pic.

For us, because of the need for the expanded sheet metal to be sure no bobcats or coyotes could get in (you'd have to have a blowtorch to breach the thing), it was not a DIY project. In the bottom photo, the window goes into a guest bathroom and we normally keep the window open when we have no guests so they can either enter through the window or from the library.

Really well done. :thumbup

The expanded sheet metal may even shade a bit like tinted glass?

Of course I bet the open air catio doesn't see (as much) use in the Tucson summertime?

It does provide shade and privacy. They can see out but it's harder to see in. The mesquite is huge and provides alot of shade as well. You can't see it but there is a ceiling fan. It's actually quite comfortable out there in the heat of the day in summer so they are out there almost nonstop in the summer.

Tucson is not like more humid areas. The ambient temp might be hot but because of no humidity, when you get in the shade, it can be quite pleasant.
