Yesterday was..... red and pink day in MannieLand, a reaction to those pretty yellows from the day before. At least I didn't have to report the alpha zone--- until the PM cycle, where he's been ever since. Today Mannie has a vetty appt with his IM vet.We will be going over current values for his CRF, Anemia, aldosteronism, etc. and see if the meds we started last week have helped with his anemia. It is hard for me to tell. There is improvement in some areas, but others remain week. I suppose we will need to evaluate his potassium and phosphorus levels as well. So.... we shall see what she has to say. Paws crossed that it is a good visit. They usually are. She is very honest and straight forward in her assessments. in the meantime, I hope for a good day today, blues would be so cool! but... I will take a day like Saturday any day. Mannie - here's to you, some very strong feel better, be blue vines. Lubs ya big guy! cat_pet_icon

All is well in MannieLand. :-D :-D I have discovered that he LOVES fortiflora. omg - nearly attacked the packet once I opened it.  It did get the main meal down the hatch last night. I had bought it a while back, but really have no clue why I didn't bring it out earlier. I will have to see if it will also work as well with his mainstay and other renal LC fuds too. This morning it was so so. I did find a pet store that sells Weruva, and BFF, so will give those shot to see if he likes them. Paws crossed! It was a very wet rainy day here in the PNW yesterday - so soggy that none of the kitties wanted to go out, or even sniff on the deck, including Mannie. He looked, but had the rains bat him in the face and that was that. He gave the rains his backside. The bed won out for the rest of the day. Not much activity from him yesterday. can't say that I blame him.... Appy was so so this morning, as it is every morning now. LB is normal, Ketones tests have been negative. Test was good this morning, as was the shoot. Normalcy in MannieLand. :-D yes, it is normal. Mannie said so.

Have a great day everyone. Mannie's IM vet appt is at 10:30, kinda in the middle of my day, so I am not too sure what I will do with the rest of it. We shall just see how things pan out. :-D

Hey everybody!! I am SOOOOOOOOOOO TIRED! What a party last night! WOO HOO - we did good for Soldier. I thinks we need a hangout and do nuthin' day today. like at the beach. towels and sunbathing. and volleyball. and boardwalks with lots of fuds. and boogie boards. what'd'ya think? You guys in? Let me know - I am ready for anything!!~~ Mannie

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI

Ok, Mannie...you've spent enough time in AlphaLand!

Awesome about the fortiflora!!! I hope that really helps with the appy issues. Sending many good vetty vines your way, along with good "new fuds" vines, too!! I hope Mannie enjoys what you find.

Have a great day, Michelle!

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI

Hi, Michelle, how funny Mannie turns his back to the rain ~ I wish I could do the same thing sometimes  .
Sending extra good vetty-vines today!

Mannie ~ Some beach chillaxin' sounds purrfect. I'ms exhausted, too. Totally worth it, though. I always ask our OTJ friends what it's like to be OTJ ~ they're usually too busy feasting on good party fuds to answer! If I ever get asked "Ripley, now that you're OTJ, what are you gonna do?" I'm gonna say "I'm going to Disneyland!" mmmm I'll bring some churros to the beach today... ~Ripley

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI

Morning Amy ~O) ~O) ~O) I could not agree more on alpha land. Bummer to see it last night, bummer to have it her this morning. THX too on the fortiflora - that was nice. it likes everything else these days only goes so far per feeding, and then he's done with it. It does seem to help. THX too on the vetty vines, and the fuds vines. BFF was a so so addition today. darn... well will try again later today.

Morning Josie ~O) ~O) ~O) II so agree on the back turning. Cracks me up when he does that. Many thank for the vetty vines!

Ripley - ME TOO! Beach chillaxin' RULES. heeheehee - i so totally agree: if I even go OTJ I too am going to DisneyLand! SWEET! I LIKES that - awesome idea. Cool on teh churros! YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! ~~ Mannie

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI

Morning Michelle, ooh Mannie we needs some ropes for you this morning. Come on down to a nice slide and make your Bean happy with some blues. Many thanks, Mocha Mannie for the Breves and coffee and yes on extra scones and croissants. That's great Fortiflora helps stimulate his appy. I'm so glad you found the BFF and Weruva. I've never seen Mags take to fuds like she has these two brands, except for the Wellness turkey which she also loves.
Sending many good Vetty vines for Mannie today and hoping after b/w the IM Vet can see how these meds are working. Sending vines for a good appy and feel good day. Hope you can get a walk or mini hike in today if time allows and weather.

Hey Mannie, it will be cloudy and breezy here today, which makes a nice beach day for just cruisin the boardwalk and a good game of volleyball if ya all want to come over this way. The natives won't come because they'll think it's chilly. We'll have the beach all to ourselves. They just opened a new hot dog stand on the boardwalk, and it has some pretty good reviews. See ya at the curb, Mags

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI

Zener will help with the ropes too. And yay for the fortiflora! Zener loves it. Tillie used to think it was poison but now she loves it, so we can't use that to keep her away from Zener's food.  Paws crossed for the vetty visit.
Liz

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +2 HI

Hi @ +2. :YMSIGH: and we keep on truckin'. crappy appy at the moment though, even with the fortiflora. I hope it will pick up in a few....

Morning Ann ~O) ~O) ~O) Oh yes, ropes required here big time. ;-) Yes on the fortiflora: sometimes it works, other times it doesn't at all. What I would give for some constituency! Sure got eh food in him last night and with the AM feed today (to a point) now it's a no go. oh well, hope that changes later today too. THX on the fuds - I hope he will like them. The BFF this AM was met with mixed reviews: but that is the way it has been for all fuds today, so will try it later on too. THX on the vines: very appreciated! me too on the hike: afternoon weather looks good, so maybe then.
Auntie Ann! sweet! I made lots of scones and croissants today - everybody seems to line them . YAY! ~~MochaMannie, kitteh barista

Morning Liz ~O) ~O) ~O) Good deal on the ropes - the boy sure needs them this morning.... Yes indeed on the fortiflora. it is interesting hw sometimes he will be so into it, other times no. Silly cat! THX on the vetty visit. :-D

Maggie! You are so on! And I am so ready! Boardwalk cruisin' sounds awesome . Sweet that we will have it all to ourselves. Mega cool! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! A hot dog stead on the Boardwalk! oh boy - here we come! Picks you up at the curb!~~ Mannie

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +2 HI

Hi guys .. oh mannie .. what are you doing way up there? I heard lots of kitties are hanging at the lagoon today, you should join them! Too bad on the crappy appy this morning .. fingers crossed that changes soon .. have a great day guys!

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +2 HI

Morning Michelle :dizcat I'm hoping the ropes work and Mannie turns his little tush around!! Do you notice any correlation between his HI and his mobility? Do you think he might have a pain somewhere? an ouchie joint or something that would make his beegees high? Many many good vetty vines and appy vines and prayers to you both. I hope your day shapes up nicely and the weather is good enough for you two to get in some outside time. also, sending all my love,, just forgot to tell you that.

MochaMannie, my sweet barista.. whoo hoo... hooo hooo lots o' mocha and triple shots today please. I can't wait to work, hard, get hot and then have a minty, vanilla frappe to cool off!!! Won't i be just the bee's knees. Bring it on Barista!!!!

i can't wait to have the whole beach to ourselves! we can play volleyball, have a BMG, and play Red Rover!! Maybe Maui can bring the new helicopter and take us all for rides??!! i'm on my way!! oliver

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +2 HI

Hi Guys,

Mannie, Kitteh Barista, we so loved that espresso this morning. It brightened a dark, dreary, almost-rainy day. THANK YOU! Rusty says he is going to help with the ropes.

Hi Michelle,
We will be thinking positively for Mannie's vetty visit today. I hope that many of his values will have changed for the better. Fingers and paws crossed for a good report. I hope that the Fortiflora will continue to help Mannie's appetite. He may regain his taste for it later today.

So, there are lots of good thoughts coming your way. Check back with you later,

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Hey Mannie, I'm on my way to the beach to chillax and play in the sunshine. See ya soon. Great party last night. Your menu was da bomb! Any leftovers?
Rusty

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +2 HI

Good Morning, Michelle

I so hope Mannie's appy picks up later today.
Checks loves the Fortiflora when he feels like it, also. Not so much today. He loved freezedried liver too.....until I bought a big bag of it. Grrrr!

Lots of good vetty vines coming Mannie's way.

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +2 HI

Morning Ella ~O) ~O) ~O) Many thanks on the vetty today. I too hope for a good report, that we can see some results, good results. Ne too on the fortiflora, and hope that it will be back on track later. That kind of tends to be his pattern, good one meal, not the next, then good again. THX so much for the good thoughts. Paws are crossed here.
Auntie Ella! That is my goal! To brighten gray dreary days. Success! I am one happy kitter! ~~ MochaMannie, kitteh barista

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +2 HI

Hi barb - missed your post! Me too on the appy - it just isn't there today, in part due to the awful BG's. I so hear you on their liking something, then you buy the big bag of it, and then comes the snubs. Cats! You gotta love it. many thanks on the vines... :-D

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +2 HI

More good thought for Mannie's vet visit....
maybe that will spark his appetite... and he'll come home eat and find a sunbeam to lay in.

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +2 HI, +5.5 HI

Hi @ +5.5. not much to day.... what a bummer.

Hi Rhiannon - THX on the vetty visit. Could be that the visit will spark his appy, bring the numbers down too. it sure did the last time we went. :-D Hopefully by then we will have some sun too. He'd really like that.

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +2 HI, +5.5 HI

Hey Ripley - you wanna know what it's like being OTJ! Well it's da bomb! First off, you get to design your own condo and get to decide where at the Falls you want it located! Then you get to party all the time, and have servants! Well, I have servants anyway. I also have my own pool, yacht, jet and helicopter! Not to mention my lovely red wagon with an umbrella!

And besides all the goodies I have, I don't have anymore pokies! well maybe on rare occasions when my bean is concerned. But no more pokies, no more shoot the kitteh and the bestest part - no more stressed out bean!

It really is the bestest to be OTJ! Wanna come visit my place and check it out.....I have a lovely uniform....errrr outfit with your name on it! ;-)

Mannie - let's play on the boardwalk. I'm so there! I love the feel of the sand between my paws and the sound of the ocean coming to shore. Ooooh and eating boardwalk fuds! mmmmmm I wanna try cotton candies - I just hope it isn't made of cotton!

It's time for fun, fun, fun.

Signed Maui the Magnificent, OTJ and loving it

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +2 HI, +5.5 HI

Hey sweet M & M--Praying that Mannie's vetty visit will help smooth out his problems..We do love that little guy! Moonie never liked the fortiflora, but then she had such acute smell & taste, she could sense somethin in her food from 6 feet away cat(2)_steam
Hope I see a good report today--Keeping you both close in my heart! Hugs & Love from me

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +7.5 HI - IM Vet report

Hi Everyone - w survived the vetty. It was a good appt.

IM VET REPORT: Mannie's weight continues to drop. We are now down about 5/6 ounces from his last visit. His BP was way high: at 2 220, up from 180 last visit. The IM vet says that high BP can be a side effect of the anemia meds he is receiving. His BP meds will be increased to twice a day, same downstage. HIs anemia levels were the same as last week: 23%. It still is way to low, but has not worsened. The meds he is receiving (darbopoetin) most often take 3 weeks to begin to show improvement. In her view the fact that they have not worsened is good. He received another injection today - they are given once a week. So now we wait another week to see if there is improvement. We did not recheck kidney values this week, maybe next. He is still listed as stage 4 CRF. We did discuss appy, and her recommendation is to add mirtazipine to his med arsenal. That will be added today. Things were better this appt: it wasn't gloom and doom as the last one, though the weuight loss is a concern. It is hard to say how long he truly has, alot depends on whether he truly responds to the anemia med, and if his response to CRF stuff slows any of downward progression. I know I can say his muscle strentgth is not improving (and we hope that any response to the anemia meds may help there - if we get that), we have good days and then some that are not. We are treading water this week - things look maybe a bit optimistic in our ability to be able to keep him content and happy, at least for the next few weeks. he seems to be. Next appt is set for next week.

Hi Roni - LOL on Moonie - that is Mannie! he knows when I doctored it, and usually that is a no go for him. THX - vetty appt went well.

Maui! WOO HOO!!! I so wanna live at the falls! and.... BOARDWALK it is! cotton candies - YUM! Best not tell our bean though.... heeheehee! Let's roll! There is fun to be had!! YAHOO! ~~ Mannie, one happy dude

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +7.5 HI - IM Vet report

Hi again, Michelle & Mannie,

Treading water for a week is good. It will give the meds more time to work. I am glad that you got a reasonable report and that all is well in MannieLand. Mannie, you rock! And now's a good time to bring down your bgs, OK?
Did you ask about the high-calorie, recovery food, Michelle? Ann said that you could only get it at the vet.

Have a good afternoon and evening. I hope that the rain has stopped so that Mannie can go outside.

Hugs & scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +7.5 HI - IM Vet report

Hi Michelle, Glad to hear that the vetty visit went well and he his anemia has not worsened. I hope the increased BP meds will help, and that is appy improves, too. A much better report this time around... paws crossed that the visit next week is even better.

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +7.5 HI - IM Vet report

Hi Michelle, just got back from a little outing to the pet store, of course, :-D and a couple other quickies. Like Ella said, that's a reasonable report, and more positive than the last and gives more time for the meds to work, especially the three weeks for the anemia meds. So sorry the anemia med affects his b/p, but sounds like the Vet adjusting the b/p med will help keep that stable. The Mirtazapine was used by my GA kitty and did get him to eat. Sending lots of healing vines and prayers for our Mannie.
Mannie, was there any blessing of the floor, Mags
Mannie, KTSS will be over soon to give you a massage and get rid of the Vetty smell.

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +7.5 HI - IM Vet report

Hi Michelle,
It's good to hear that the anemia didn't worsen in the last week. Did your vet mention giving Mannie an injection of iron dextran with the darbepoietin? Bear got one when he started his treatment. If the body is going to start producing a lot of red blood cells, it might need the extra iron. There are side effects, so your IM vet may not want to give it. Bear's PCV was .18 when he started on darbe, and in the first week it went up to .20 and the second week up to .28. Too rapid a rise can cause the blood pressure to increase, as you mentioned. It is indeed a balancing act, and it sounds like you and the IM vet are on top of things. I also wonder if Mannie might need something for nausea besides the Pepcid? Perhaps some Ondansetron or Cerenia? The renal toxins can make them feel sick. Just tossing a couple of ideas out there that helped Bear Man. I am sending lots of healing vines to Bear Man's twin brother, and hoping that the meds all kick in and help him feel better.

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +7.5 HI - IM Vet report

All in all, it sounds like the IM vet went well. It is great to hear that the anemia hasn't gotten worse. Yay for fortiflora. I'm so glad the big guy lubs it. Healing vines for Mannie and big hugs for you Michelle!

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +7.5 HI - IM Vet report

Hi Michelle.....I keep thinking....lateral move, that's good. How good that this visit and report is more positive than last one.
Come on meds, do your jobs!

And you, Mr Mannie, get your cute little butt down another floor!

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +7.5 HI - IM Vet report

Hi Michelle - well, it's not bad, so that's good, right? Poor Mannie, I just want to give him a kitty hug and kiss his little forehead. I hope the meds will start helping with the anemia and that in turn helps with the BP and muscle weakness. I'm glad the visit went as well as could be. But now the Alphas are just completely unacceptable, right? Maybe we can pretend he just knew the vetty visit was coming and he has a little pre-anxiety and it will all come down to pretty blues tonight. At least that's what I'm thinking. Sigh. Mannie, I DON'T like your numbers like I like my coffee - black. (Ok, I don't really like it black, but the thought that counts, right?)

Mannniiieeeee! My little barista boy, I hope you have been having good naps and snoozes! You and Leo are two lazy boys all right. Here, I give you some scritches. :-) Too much partying last night I see! If you decide to make some rounds later on, I missed your specials today and would love the triple shot Breve's made from Guatemala Antigua Coffee.

DOODE. Oh, my head hutz. I SWEARS I gonna stop after four niptinis. But my BEEGEEs were low last night so I thought I had some wiggle room for some sweet cocktails. Ugh. I was so whacked when I came home that I kept mamabean up chasing a spider on the ceiling. I made her kill it! LOL! You shoulda see her running around with paper towels and smacking a flip-flop against the wall! Beans is funny! Ok, I got back snooze now. Sees you later! ~Leo

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +7.5 HI - IM Vet report

Mannie, good job with the IM vet today! Glad your anemia isn't getting worse ~ I have anemia, too, which is why my bean put a heating pad on my rocking chair for me. Iz always cold. Helps my sore muscles, too. I had to draw the line at her putting a sweater on me, tho; those are for little purse dogs, and Iz aint no little purse dog. Did you leave any, ahem, 'gifts' at the vetty today? I hope you are having a restful afternoon. Lubs ya, my friend :-D . ~Ripley

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +7.5 HI - IM Vet report

Hi Everybody - I took off for a hike after Mannie's appt, just to decompress. I find it really helps me get the head on right... Went and did a waterfalls hike at one of the lowland mountaina here. I will post photos in Mannie's condo tomorrow.

Hi Ella - I thinks so too. treading water is good. and that he hasn't gone any lower. and yes on those BG's - aiyee!! I forgot on the fuds, but will call. I can always call the regular vet too - she's a bit easier to get a hold of... rains have stopped so I hope to get him out after dinner. :-D

Hi Courtney - yes, it is a much better report this time around, a relief in a way. and me too on the meds! THX - I too hope next week will be better. paws crossed.

Hi Ann - Yes, it was a more positive report than the last one. thank goodness. He's got a ways to go, but this is a start. Yes on the BP meds - she is adjusting to try and keep his BP in line, one of the side effects of the anemia meds. THX on the mirtz info - I hope it will help Mannie eat too.

Hi Linda - thanks you so much for checking on us. and for all the info. she did not mention the iron, but I will ask when we go next week. I think the main focus right now is getting the anemia under control. Mannie is at 23%. I do like this vet - I can see her wheels turning when we discuss things, she appears to consider all the options. I didn't ask about the nausea. I know the toxins can make them feel sick, but he just doesn't seem to be. it is mainly just any interest in food. well I will discuss this on the next visit too. Thank you for the suggestions!!! Mannie and I are very grateful.

Hi Melissa - it did go well. we are not any worse, which is good. Thanks so much for the vines!!

Hi Barb - ohhh yes on this visit - it was better, a slimmer of hope this go around. He still has issues, but but things see to be better.
auntie Barb- yes ma'am! WILL DO!! ~~ Mannie

Hi Lisa - Yes, it was good. issues still persist, but it was doomsday like last week. ah yes on those alphas... gotta work on those! Love the analogies - I can relate to them all! :-D :-D
Auntie Lisa - you gots it! I deliver 24/7, anytime, anywhere! Coming right up! i now..... way too much partying last night, but I is good to gooooooooooooooo......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...... ~~ Mocha Mannie, kitten Barista

Hi Josie - many thanks!

Ripley! you gots that too? WOW< lots ofkitties got it. so if you are cool, then I can be cool too. I will nip this thing! Yes-sir-ree! I tins I will ask for one of those heating pads too. COOL! heehehee: no prezzies and gifts at the vetty today. I tried to be nice, cuz they treated me real well. See ya in a few ~~ Mannie

Leo - DOODE! What is up with that? MINE TOO?!?!?!?! Too many niptinis..... hey - that is too funnies on the spider... what a silly bean - but you did good! you got entertainment when you got home. I is going to try that too! See ya alter - ~~ Mannie

Maggie - Nope I was GOOD - no floor messing.... they were nice to me so I tried to be cool, ya know? OOOOOOO! tell the KTSS to hurry - I STINK! ~~ Mannie

Re: 4/8 Mannie AMPS HI, +7.5 HI - IM Vet report

I'm glad this vetty visit went better than the last one. That's good his anemia hasn't gotten worse. Hopefully the meds will kick in and help with that soon. Sending hugs and prayers to you and Mannie.

Re: 4/8 Mannie PMPS 525 - IM Vet report

I hate seeing the weight loss - this happened with sydney too and she was little to begin with 6 pounds, so losing 1, 2, pounds plus was hard - the heating pad is a good idea, especially if he is stiff - just keep it on lowest setting and put a towel on top of it, so you don't dry out his skin -- just ask maui = she went nuts for the heating pad a few years ago and wouldn't budge for nuthin, not to eat, use lb, nothing and her fur came out in clumps and skin was very dry - of course this was just before the diabetes diagnosis as i recall now...

Hey Mannie,

what happened? with all the fuds you eat, how could you lose weight!  that is just crazy. come to my place, my bean will give you a nice hot bath and get that stinky off you! and you can growl and hiss all you want at her, she won't mind, honest!

then you can nap in bed and get fuds in bed. it's great to get fuds in bed.

signed maui the magnificent, no vetty stink on me

Re: 4/8 Mannie PMPS 525 - IM Vet report

All in all, not a bad report. It's great that his anemia hasn't worsened....very good, indeed. FWIW, we had to adjust Mario's BP meds several times throughout the almost-2 years that he was on them. The bulk of the time, he was on twice-a-day dosing. Also FWIW...I know the weight loss and appy issues are concerning, but to be honest, I dealt with that stuff with Mario for almost 2 years as well. He had good days, he had not-so-good days. His weight slowly declined as well. I think it's all just part of the aging process for all of us, and it doesn't necessarily mean that we have to start counting the days. It took me a while to get used to that, but I eventually came to the conclusion that, at his age, he'd earned himself an "off" day or two.

I hope Mannie stays out of AlphaLand for the rest of the night!!

Re: 4/8 Mannie PMPS 545, +2 511 - IM Vet report

Whew on 2 counts! Looks like the IM vetty trip went reasonably well and that the alpha floor has been shown his backside. :-D How did the IM vetty floor do this time? Did Mannie leave his marks again?

I hope your weather was like ours today, which would mean clearing up just in time for your hike.

Re: 4/8 Mannie PMPS 545, +2 511 - IM Vet report

511 @ +2. YAY! It is good to see him exiting the alpha floor. :-D

Hi Carla - many thanks! me too! It as better, much better! UI so hope on the anemia meds too. Paws are crossed. Thanks so much for the hugs and the prayers.

HI Hillary - I know on the weight loss... not too fond of that, but we hope once all this stuff improves that ti will come back, or at least not get any worse. I like the heating pad idea, so will need to get one. I think he would like it. Good point on the towel and the dry skin...

Hi Amy - I agree, all in all, not too bad. better than the last one.... Thanks too for your thoughts on the weight and general aging - I do believe you are right. The vet wasn't overly concerned about it, more so on the anemia. Yupp, so she said on the BP meds too. Right now it needs to go up (the dose) since the anemia meds are adding to his high BP,. And i agree too - every now and then they deserve a day off. so so true!

Hi Wendy - oh yes on those two counts! I am glad for both! Hi Michelle & Mannie,

Sorry I haven't stopped by in a while. I always think of you guys! Every time I see the little ~O) symbol and not just here on FDMB, but Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts...I am constantly thinking of you guys. Shasta sends her love and we are sending healing vines and prayers for our buddy, Mannie! Give him some pets and scritches from me and big hugs to you!!!!

A hot water bottle can also do as a heating pad. Not drying & more secure in that no electric cords around. A hot water bottle can keep it's heat for as long as 8 hrs. I always use it during the cooler days. The old ones love the warmth.
Whenever they go slow with their food, I always bring out the kitties pate canned. Stock up on diffenent kinds of flavor also helps a bit. In HK, we seldom administer med for their appy.
Sending sending healing vines to Mannie!

Michelle

I'm glad Mannie is at least staying the same. I think your vet is being very proactive. A lot of vets don't start an ESA until the HCT is below 20%. I'm also impressed she is using the darbepoetin. A lot of vets haven't caught on to that and still use erythropoietin a like Procrit where the antibodies are more likely to build up.

Mi sure you miss the fuds dance....as do we all. Hopefully his HCT will come up soon and the BP will get under control.

454 @ +4. oh thank goodness that we have left the black floor. ;-)

Hi Deborah - No preamble - I so understand how it is... oh that is so fun on the ~O) symbol. That has just made my day, thank you! Thanks too for the vines - Mannie loves them, wraps himself all up in them when he gets one. I will for sure give out those scritches and hugs.

Hi Helen - oh wow - hadn't thought of that - it would work just as well too. THx too on the fuds - we've been trying all different kinds of fuds - he seems to like the variety. :-D Mannie says thanks for the vines!

Hi Marje - Yupp, the same is being viewed as good right now. it didn't go any lower, so that is a plus right now. In think so too on the vet, plus she really listens to me and what I know about Mannie. She is very good and can prioritize well, in what appears to be the proper order to get results without giving alot of meds. So we hope on the HCT and the BP. That was getting Better until we had to start treating the anemia - high BP is side effect of the darbepoetin. so.... with a chnage in the BP dose that should get back in line. and yes - I so miss that fuds dance... it has been a while.

Well, all in all, staying stable is good news! Hugs and scritches to Mannie, and big hugs for you, scritches too if you like those! ;-) Good idea to take a hike to decompress and clear your head or you'll be on Mannie's BP meds too.

We use ondansetron, 1/4 of a 4mg tablet, twice a day with Zener regularly for prevention of nausea and also Cerenia, 1/4 of a 4mg tablet every other day. Both are safe to use together and have really helped control any nausea, that way we can give appy stimulant whenever needed and don't have to worry about appy stimulant making Zener eat when he is nauseated and starting a puke festival. We learned all that from Karrie (and Maverick).

We've had better luck with Zener with cyproheptadine. We tried the mirtz and it made him quite agitated and loud! With cypro, we only need a tiny sliver to get him going, and it's much less than what is usually prescribed. Fortunately, we can give pills to Zener wrapped in bits of pill pockets coated in fortiflora. Having to give so many meds when it is hard to pill is so stressful.

Sending heaps and heaps and heaps of healing vines to our best buddy Mannie!

Hey Manster - do you take lots of pills? I do, and mostly they are treats but ever now and then I bite into one and it's poison. So watch out for treats, if it's too good to be true, it's probably medicine, yuck. - your pal Zener

Hi Anne - I think so. stable is good news. oh yes on the hike - tin was a short one, but quite nice: waterfalls nice trails, creeks juts not alot of elevation. It was fun and did the trick. lol - i wonder if Mannie will share his BP eds....

THX on the info. I have that on my list - the ones you mentioned, should what we are doing not work, or nausea really becomes a problem, So far it doesn't seem to be so, just food interest in general. He's had the mirtz before and did OK with it. hopefully that wills till hold true. so far zero in the puke arena.... so far.  THX for letting me know who you do what you do - it does help alot. What I would give if Mannie would eat pills pockets! Goofy cat won't. well correction maybe once in twenty tries he will. Oh yes on the stress factor! omg.... thanks much on the vines!

Z! DUDE! What is with these beans - pills! they say they are good and stuff, but I tell you! I don't buy it for a minute. I have to inspect my fuds too - they was IN MY FOOD DUDE! so mega uncool, ya know? i KNOW: too good to be true, then it is medicine. BLECH I tell you - BLEACH. silly beans.. the think they fool us... we is smarter! ~~ M
