So today has been strange - started out very low for Elian. I was sure I'd have to keep a close eye and was sure he'd go really low. WRONG! He's on the rise instead. What's up with that?!!! But I'm not worried - he's going in for his dental and a little ear surgery tomorrow (I'm a nervous momma) and will hope things will settle down for him. Fingers and paws crossed.

Re: 4/8 ELIAN: amps 188; 217 +2; 249 +4 BACKWARDS DAY?!!!

Hmm - somehow he went from 362 to 188 last night - maybe he went lower in the night and now he's bouncing a little? I do hope the surgery helps him get these numbers under control. Sending good vetty vines your way for tomorrow!

I think Tara's right. There's no way of knowing just how low Elian's numbers went last night. This looks like a bounce to me, as well.

Now I feel terrible - he was high at pmps and I hd to be up and out soooo early this morning that I didn't test during the night. Gotta call vet now and see what to do about insulin, etc. for tomorrow. She wants him there around 7:00 am.

Thx Caryl - I'm a wreck. Thankfully Dr Melissa was waiting for us and took him right in. He peed in the crate - she cleaned him up and brought the towel out to me in a plastic bag. She was going to give him some regular insulin since he was at 535 when I took him in. Poor guy. She also has his Lantus and his food just in case. I'm trying to keep busy so I don't worry about him.

Sending TONS of good dental and surgery vines your way Susie. Keep us updated on how it goes.

Today is the day! Sending gardens of good vetty vines, safe surgery vines and rapid recovery vines to Elian! Fingers, tails and paws crossed everything goes smoothly!

Thank you so much Tara. Poor guy went from a regular routines life to a whirlwind of what the heck is going in? From no food and water overnight, to no breakfast, to a carrier, a traumatic car ride and whisked into the hands if strangers in a strange place only to be poked and prodded and an IV; peeps messing with his teeth and ears. Oy my poor guy. The only good thing going for him is the fact that he's totally used to dogs barking so that shouldn't bother him while he's there.

PS this is the vets office that is totally non-traditional - it's in a converted house; everybody sits on couches in the living room and that's where the dogs all get their acupuncture and chiro adjustments. The 2 female docs are very into holistic treatments when possible and they also specialize in rehab. This is who got my client dog walking again just two weeks ago after her stroke when neurologist and another vet recommended she be PTS because she was totally paralyzed. She is up and running now! Truly miracle workers!!! Just hoping an 'ordinary' dental goes well.
