Knock it off, Chino. This slow bounce thing wasn't funny the first time and it isn't funny now.

His fur wasn't as wet as it was when the whole thing ended up in it, so I think it was just a partial fur shot.

Due to religious observance next Monday and Tuesday nights, I won't be able to get a +2 check and might not get home until the +4, so I picked up a few cans on the high end of the LC range for those nights. Again, I labeled them by % of calories from carbs, since it seems most people go by that here, but I also calculated the amount in each can and was reminded of why I prefer the dry matter values. Each can is 5.5 oz and he gets an entire can divided between the PM dose and 4 hours later.

Chicken Soup FTS: Adult Recipe - 7% kcal from C - 3.4 gm total CHO
Wellness CORE: Chkn, Turk, Chkn Liver - 8% kcal from C - 4.4 gm total CHO
Merrick PB: Beef Wellington - 9% kcal from C - 3.1 gm total CHO

The one that appears to be highest in carbs by % calories actually contains the lowest amount of carbs.

Good to see he turned the corner today. Which meant he got some insulin in. Have you thought of putting a side a fur shot jar? Put a $1 in each time and see what fun thing you can buy for yourself after a while. I was tempted to do the same thing. I always found fur shots happened in multiples. :rolleyes:

I didn't worry too much about exact amount of carbs, as long as they were below 10%. As Dr. Lisa states, the manufacturing process varies enough and so do the supplied product that any one batch of cans could vary a percent or two from the next. What was more important for me was the number of calories. Until last year, I was trying to prevent Neko from gaining too much. Last year I was trying to get her to keep weight on.

As I probably should've expected, he dropped 50 mg/dL in the first 2 hours, then 130 mg/dL over the next 2 hours. I'm not sure if we'll see green tonight, but there's a good chance that he'll go below 200 at least...

PMPS = 448 (3rd meal)
[10 units Lantus]
+2 = 399
+4 = 267 (3rd meal)

+6.5 = 81 (3 tsp MC)

You know him well. I found that when Punkin actually did get in low numbers, I wanted something over 20% to bring him up. One of those ECID things!

That's what it took on 4/03 to bring Chino up from the 50s, though this does appear to be slowing him down, and we're only an hour away from his usual nadir. Until recently, we were only seeing green once in a blue moon, so I'm still learning how he responds to different interventions. Next time he drops this quickly at night, I'll start with HC.

That's the whole can. If his BG is 70 or above at +8, I'll give a treat (freeze-dried chicken) and test again in 30.

Gave a small piece of freeze-dried chicken. If the next reading isn't the same or higher, I'm giving HC and going to bed, since I just took my meds.
