Simon is a beautiful blue this morning! Much better than his awful numbers yesterday. He got his Adequan shot yesterday it usually makes him really stiff that same day. He is a little more spry this morning.

Thanks to everyone who gave me advice about the stray kitty that is hanging out in my backyard (Cole). He left last night and came back again this morning. I wonder where he goes?? I am going to ask around at church today to see if someone would like him. I know alot of really good cat people, so maybe??? If not, I guess he has found a way into my home, although I am a little torn, because see below for my other possible adoption.

I mentioned that I have another cat that I was already thinking about adopting. Her name is Missy and she has been at the no-kill shelter for 2 years. She is a fat black cat that is 9 years old. Here is the heartbreaking story: Her owner was elderly. A few years ago, there was a fire in the owner's home and Missy licked the owner awake and they both escaped. Then the owner had a stroke and while she was in rehab, her children dumped Missy off at the shelter. The owner got well enough to go back to her home so she immediately came and got Missy. Two weeks later, the owner died and she was found holding Missy in her arms. The worst thing yet: her children then again dumped her off at the shelter and she has been there ever since. She was so loved by her owner and now is sitting in a room with 20 other cats. She is so sweet and purred whenever I petted her. She is calling to me. I saw her over 8 months ago when I still had Cleo so I couldn't pursue the adoption and was hoping she would find her forever home. I am having bloodwork done because I really need to know if she has any special needs. The shelter does not know because bloodwork was done 2 years ago and not done since. I'll keep you updated. DH is going to see her today and hopefully, we will find out results of BW in a few days.

Have a great day!!

Wow, that it is a beautiful story about Missy. What a special cat she is.

Re: 4/7 Simon AMPS 137 +3.5 112 (2 more kitties?)

Bluetiful, Simon! I wonder if his BG is lower because he feels better? Poor Missy, she does need a furever home. If Cole is truly a stray, you could keep him as an outdoor cat, at least for a while. Just feeding him would be a big improvement for him. :-D How does Simon feel about bringing in another kitty? Is he lonely?

Morning Georgia, I can see now why Missy is so special and found her way into your heart. That is so heartwarming how you found her. Sending vines and prayers for good b/w for Missy. I hope the perfect companion can be found also for Cole or if not.....
Give Simon some scritches. I didn't mean to ignore him looking so good in blue. Missy's story really touched me.

Re: 4/7 Simon AMPS 137 +3.5 112 (2 more kitties?)

Good work Simon! Now just a little lower to swim in the green lagoon

I do hope Missy has a clean bill of health - what a heroic cat! A happy ending to her shelter life would be wonderful.

Re: 4/7 Simon AMPS 137 +3.5 112 (2 more kitties?)

What a touching story about Missy. How could so many people pass such a loving an loyal kitty by? Or, maybe she was waiting for you.

I hope there is a forever home for Cole with one of the members of your congregation. That would make for happy endings for everyone.

Hi Georgia,

Sending "good outcome" vines to both Missy and Cole. They are both lucky kitties to have you looking out for them. Fingers and paws crossed that all will work out.

Nice AMPS this morning, Simon! Glad you're feeling frisky this morning.

Hugs & scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Very nice numbers for Simon today~

Oh, what a tear-jerking story about poor Missy. I think others passed her by, because she has been waiting for you ;-) ! Sending many prayers for Missy, Cole, and all of you. I know everything will fall into place exactly as it is supposed to!

Georgia

Look at Simon in his Sunday blue suit! :-D

You have such an amazing, beautiful heart. I know it will lead you down the right path but I really understand your desires to get Missy. When we volunteered at a no kill shelter, it broke my heart at the number of people who dumped their elderly parents elderly cats there. Some of them were 17 and 18 years old and had lived their entire lives being loved by their human and then just dumped when the human passed away or went into a nursing home (likely also dumped there by their children). We wanted to adopt them all but we had our own elderly kitties. I can see why you would want to bring her into your home. She could not find a better one with more love.

You never know....Cole might not want to be an indoor kitty so if you can't find a home, maybe that is the solution. If he's fed, vaccinated, neutered...it might work.

Paws crossed for your decision and lots of prayers sent to guide you.

Morning Georgia ~O) ~O) ~O)

What a beautiful day for Simon - love the blues, and I hope he will surf this for you. :-D

What a heart-touching story about Missy. how could anyone do that to her.... It sounds like she is meant for you - you have such a great big heart, and I know you will taken equally as good of care as her previous owner did. I wish you much luck with Missy. And Cole too - It sure would be nice to know if he had a home or not... good luck!

Have a great day today.

I just got back from visiting Missy again and brought DH to meet her. He also fell in love with her, although he did say that "she is an extremely fat cat". I think that is why people have passed her by because she is about 20 pounds and is all black. Black cats are so hard to adopt, according to the shelter. She is in the fat cat room and unfortunately, they are all able to free feed all day. So much for the diet room! Plus, it is all dry food.

When DH went up to her, she immediately started rubbing her head against his hand and purred.

I really hope the BW is ok -- I am a little worried since she is so fat. I definitely want to take her home. BW still has not been done because doctor is sick (1 doctor for all 200 cats). They will try again on Monday so I won't know anything until Wed.

Simon is very lonely and I think he will be ok with another cat. He already has gotten used to Cole outside and understands that he gets a treat whenever I feed Cole. Cole = treat!!

Re: 4/7 Simon AMPS 137 +3.5 112 (2 more kitties?)

I want you to know I had a 22lb cat named Andy. If you look at my photobucket at the bottom he is the tuxedo. He had a few health problems, high blood pressure, and some constipation. He mostly was a health cat otherwise, but loved to eat. He would knock a chocolate donut smack out of your hand or try to. He had a great personality though.
You should be able to trim her weight down a bit. Sure hope it works out for you and DH.

Terri

Re: 4/7 Simon AMPS 137 +3.5 112 (2 more kitties?)

Hi Georgia! Beautiful day for Simon. :-D

I, too, got a little misty eyed reading Missy's story... so sad that the kids would dump her, not once, but twice! When she is so clearly a loving, loyal cat who meant so much to her owner. I am keeping paws crossed that all her bw comes back normal and that she will be able to come to her forever home soon. I am glad that she and DH hit it off... I am sure that once she is home with you and on a good diet, some of that weight will fall off.

It is true that black cats are very hard to adopt. There are more black cats euthanized in the United States than any other animal. Unfortunately, they are very stigmatized (really... do people REALLY believe all that superstitious crap?!) and unfortunately are not very desirable. They are also difficult to photograph, so their pictures often get overlooked on adoption sites. Stupid, I know. Kismet is the sweetest, most loving, most loyal cat I have ever known. I have a soft spot for black cats, and think I will only adopt them from now on.

I am also keeping Cole in my thoughts and hopeful that you will find someone to give him a loving forever home, too. You're so good to help Missy and Cole!

Re: 4/7 Simon PMPS 220

Terri, it is nice to know you had a big boy, and at 22 pounds, was pretty healthy. After looking at your pictures of Andy, Missy looks to be about the same size.

Courtney, that is so sad that more black cats or euthanized in the US than other animals. The shelter people said that the black cats are often the ones with the best personalities, as you have found out. Unfortunately, my brother is another person that believes all the superstitious crap. He says that since Missy was in her owners arms when she died, that it is bad "feng sui" (spelling?). He also things it is spooky that she is black and he will be "freaked out everytime he sees her". Well I guess I don't have to have him over to my house very often! :-D

Meanwhile, Simon is creeping back up.
