Well I had jury duty this morning and had a feeling Curry would decide to drop today. Left out extra food.

They were gonna pick me for the criminal trial that would last 2-3 days. I would have been delighted to serve but I was worried about Curry. The attorneys repeated asked if we had any concerns or scheduling issues but I was embarrassed to say out loud that I had concerns about my cat. Folks just don't understand what we go through or how connected we are to our furbabies. And I just had the nagging feeling they were gonna pick me. I was juror 52 out of 80, but the nagging feeling prompted me to ask to speak w/the judge. Told her I had a diabetic cat that I was concerned about having a hypo event. Said I wouldn't be able to concentrate on what was being said due to the worry. That's the truth so help me God. I had even changed the jury date 3x hoping Curry would be off the insulin by this date. NOT. So a part of me is glad that I wasn't choosen and another part is disappointed that I didn't get this opportunity. However, with my luck and being in my profession, I will get another opportunity for the experience in the future.

Also learned that 50% of the folks sent a jury summons in Houston (Harris County) just don't show. That's sad.

Well she decided to throw out a 36 at +2.5 this evening......I bet she went low this morning as well. Dose reduction tomorrow.

Fueding Felines Update: One of these days I'm gonna tell y'all that Curry and Sidney kissed and made up. Yeah right. How about just tolerate each other's presence w/out attacking one another. So the girls are about 9.5 feet apart while eating. I made the field of vision smaller as we inch closer and closer so as to not overwhelm them. Duct tape, cardboard, and a towel over the babygate. I'm having to get more and more creative as I try to assist them adjust to the closer proximity to one another.

All for now.

Glad you got out of jury duty! Having done it, I can promise you it isn't nearly as exciting as it seems!

Hope you have continued success in getting the girls closer together!!! Egads!!!

Have a good night!

I second that! You're not missing anything by getting out of jury duty. It was a 'hurry up and wait' experience for me. So, the ladies aren't in love with each other, huh? I've got 4 boys and 2 divas. Only the females get into hissy fights. Sometimes it gets so bad that the guys leave whatever room the ladies are fighting in. Always something going on around here. Have a good night.

The judge must have been a cat lover! Pretty sad that so many people don't even show up when they are called to serve. I did serve on the jury of a criminal case last year and it was so interesting. Unfortunately, the prosecution didn't prepare and we had to rule not guilty even though in my gut and in my heart, I knew the guy did it. So I didn't like the outcome but it was very eye opening seeing how everything worked.

Hope you have a good, restful evening.

WOW - what a store! I totally know where you are coming from - and am so delighted that the judge understood. You are so right in that most do not understand what we go through. I am elated that one did! :-D :-D

I wish you the best with the curry sidney thing - i hope one day they will accept one another again. Paws crossed!

Very nice numbers for Curry too - wow an 82 for a pmps! congrats on the dosecrease. It sounds like she is doing very well. :-D :-D

How awesome is that.. I dunno that the judge empathized with the diabetic cat.. I do know the judge understood an ideal juror was not one not being able to concentrate on the case due to worry ;-)
You are a good, honest woman!!

Wow, Curry is beautiful.

Have you tried Feliway? I've used the plugins on three occasions: new cat marking, new hostile cat, and cat pooping outside the litter box. All three times, it helped. They're relatively inexpensive on Amazon. You can also buy the spray and put it on their blankets, of the towel you'll put over the baby gate.

Good luck!

Jason

I just got called into jury duty for the FOURTH time next month. I am 25. ohmygod_smile I don't know why I have been chosen so much...most people I know have never been called!

It also might have been that the judge determined you could suffer a loss of "property" if you weren't home to take care of it and the court may not have the right to demand that of you.

Tena: ahhh...the old diabetic cat story, eh?   I'm impressed, too, that the judge was ok with it but when you think about it, the last thing anyone
wants is a mistrial and I would have worried myself sick as well. A 36 for Curry? Wow....she has to be about ready to wind down her insulin needs isn't she? I know the asthma med maybe keeps her needing insulin due to the steroids? I hope she comes off soon for you.

Bummer on Curry and Sid...GIRLS!!!! Time to kiss and make up.

We sure miss you but glad you are well and that you check in. Hope you are getting some bike rides in.
