Linda and Bear Man

Member Since 2009
Hi Everyone,

I just thought that I would open an Old Timer Condo today. I hope that everyone is doing well. My thoughts are with Carolyn and BigMac this weekend and with all the other kitties who are not feeling well.

This is a month full of memories for me. Miss Emily passed away last year on the Thursday before the long Easter weekend, so she is very much in my thoughts. April is also Teddy's birthday month. This will be the first year in many that I won't be throwing a birthday party for him. He used to love his parties so much. His favourite aunties are coming over for a potluck dinner the week before his birthday, so I think we may get out the champagne and have a toast to him. It's hard to believe that last year at this time I still had Emily and Teddy with me. Bear Man is always in my heart, of course. In fact, he is my heart.

Teddy at his party last year:

In extended family news, I am an Auntie again to a Golden Retriever puppy named "Sailor". My sister unexpectedly lost her dog this past year, and she and her DH have been very much looking forward to welcoming their new addition. I met the new baby yesterday, and she is absolutely adorable.

Pinkerton is enjoying being the Lord of the Castle. He has blossomed into a sweet and affectionate lap cat who has a fondness for i pad games. I have been sick for the last couple of weeks with pneumonia, which is a bit of a drag, but Pinky approves of all of the sofa time.

I am going into my fourth month of retirement. It is starting to grow on me, but I shouldn't get too used to all of this relaxing. For those who haven't heard, I have plans to go back to college in the fall and start studying toward a second career. I have been accepted into two colleges for their two year Veterinary Technician programs. I will be deciding on which one I will attend in the next couple of weeks. I am strongly leaning towards the one (Sheridan College) which is closer to my home. The other college has an excellent program, but it is very remotely located. I am extremely excited and also very nervous about going back to school. It has been a 10 year plus dream of mine to be a vet tech, so I won't know if it's possible until I just go ahead and try.

I don't post often, but I am still a frequent lurker, and probably a complete stranger to half of the condo owners in LL

Linda! So great to hear from you! Wow on the pneumonia - I hope you feel better soon. It does sound like a good excuse to spend lots of sofa time with Pinkerton, especially during this difficult month. Know that our hearts are with you. We all miss Bear Man, Emily and Teddy. Sailor is absolutely adorable! So happy for your DS and her DH. I think it's awesome you're going to vet tech school. I just started an online program for the same thing, as I don't really have the time or the money to physically go to school right now, with my daughter and granddaughters moving back home. Kudos to you!

Thanks for posting and for the update! These sorts of holiday anniversaries are always difficult. :YMHUG:

Best of luck in your 2nd career, how wonderful to have the opportunity to pursue a lifelong dream and what fabulous expertise in FD you will bring to any veterinary practice!

It is so good to hear from you and Lord Pinkerton. We all here still Keep Bear Man and Teddy close in our hearts. Keep resting and get well soon. Sending vines and white light that you are up and around soon, sorry Pinkerton. ;-)

How exciting on the vet tech training! That is a perfect choice for you. And a great forum to spread information on FD.

Hi Linda,

I can well imagine that it is a poignant anniversary month for you. Teddy, Miss Emily, and, of course, Bear Man are not very far away, for they have their furever home in your heart. Pinky looks very happy playing his games on your iPad! And your sister's puppy is so cute.

So sorry to hear that you have pneumonia. Bummer! Now, if it were TB, you could come to cure at our cure cottage (but we might accept a special pneumonia patient!). Take good care of yourself and get better very soon. Maybe Pinky will let you play some bean games on your iPad.

Good luck with the big decision on which college to attend. Whichever one you choose, you will excel at your studies and you will be a fabulous vet tech.

Rusty sends kitty kisses and we all send love and hugs,

"Ella", Edward and Rusty

Linda, sendeing healing vines and take care of yourself and don't overdo and get lots of rest. The anniversaries are hard. You have a lot of neat things happening in your life. That is wonderful to pursue your dreams of college and the Veterinary Technician Program, very exciting. Adorable pics and congratulations on being an "auntie" so cute!

Always lovely to see a condo from you Linda. So sorry to hear you have been fighting pneumonia & hope you are on the mend.

You & your kitties are often on my mind, & Bear Man holds such a special place in my heart too, tho I only knew him thru FDMB. My heart goes out to you when I think of how hard it was for you to lose so many kitties in such a short space of time. & when these anniversaries come up, it is very hard indeed.

Linda, I have such admiration for you and your courage in going back to school. & vet tech'ing! What a great tech you will make. Please keep us posted and let us know how it's going. You are going to do great!

Howdy Linda

And what a beautiful update on Pinky. I'm so glad he able to share a different side to himself now.

And congrats on being accepted into vet school. You will be awesome... I just know it.

Please update when you can.

I see you lurking often and I can't tell you how much I appreciate when you do post with information about medical issues since I know how hard won that information is. Bear Man has a special place in my heart, as well. I miss hearing about Miss Emily and the very special Teddy. I happy that Pinkerton has adjusted to becoming Lord of the Manor.

Hi Linda!! it is so great to hear from you. I am so excited to know you are going to vet tech college. I know in nay heart it will be a success for you. You have such a wealth of knowledge already that this can only build on what is there. Your heart-felt compassion for animals can only add fuel to the fire. Go for it!! You will be one heckuva vet tech.

I too have thought of teddy, and miss Emily. The memories are good ones for all of us on LL that remember them. I hope that they are for you also. and well Bear man- always a the best memory ever. I cannot look at Mannie without thinking of BearMan. That too is a very precious memory.

I am sorry that you have/had pneumonia. it is a tough one - been there once before too. Take the time to recover, you will be better for it if you do. Keep on truckin' and get better. :-D

Thanks so much for posting this. and for lurking and helping us. We are all better for it.

Love the photos....

(((Linda))) Such a bittersweet time and I remember all of your babies .....how lucky they have always been to have you. I'm glad Pinkerton is doing so well.

Sending you many healing vines. You amaze me...how wonderful you are going back to school. Congratulations.

I hope you feel well soon and we are always so happy to see you in LL!

Bear Man is always in my heart, of course. In fact, he is my heart.

And what a beautiful heart it is!

Wow...what a tough time this must be for you- your three angels hold a special place for so many of us, Linda.
I'll never forget Pat's description of Bear Man leading the kitties to a full moon party reunion with our GA's-
and then to lose him, The Divine Miss Em, and Teddy  Heartbreaking.
I never knew what gorgeous coloration Teddy had- what a lovely picture!

Hope you are healing completely from the pneumonia...yikes!

Big sloppy kiss from Binks to Pinkerton, and he wonders may he play with the I-Pad as well?

You are prepared of course, for the flurry of questions from all of us when you get your Vet Tech certification, right???
