possible fur shot today.... smelled insulin on her fur.

Thank you for the support yesterday.
I am indeed trying to enjoy what time we have left.... however much it is.
I know she's feeling really bad and miserable.

it's like nothing is working. And now I think she's reacting to the kangaroo too.....
I gave her some of that %&#* hill's a/d which she ate last night at 3 am and again this morning.

About the only thing left in our arsenal is to go to prednisolone 2x a day.
trying to be patient and see how once a day does at least for another day or two....

I really really don't know what to feed now....
and I've thought about what will I do if I were to see a low number.... guess I'd have to pull out ice cream....

foods with gravy seem to aggravate her condition.....

What worries me is the additional throwing up.... it's like her system doesn't want any food in there....

and for old timers...
still having great fun with my own stuff...
My DGM is in the nursing home now, I couldn't do it any more. They thought she had a few weeks
left but she rallied and gained weight and is absolutely miserable out there and shares that misery
with every visit.
I am finally going thru all the boxes of my late dm and my dgm's things.... sorting... getting ready for
a yard sale.
I have 6 boxes of tarzan collectibles to list on websites so that's going to take me a long time.
Maybe I'll have a treasure in there....

I'm sorry things are so rough right now. I hope you can find some food that will be okay for Shadow's tummy. Sending prayers and hugs. :bighug::bighug:

I'm really sorry for everything you're going through. Sending good vines and hugs! :bighug:

Is she taking a probiotic since the addition of the raw foods? (I didn't see it in your last list of meds?) So it's not mattering if she eats Hills or Kangaroo, she still vomits regardless?

It's hard for her GI system because she has had a lot of changes and meds to tolerate, poor baby!! I'm not surprised that the gravy type foods upset her, it's probably wheat gluten.

the probiable is the anti vomit... filled with probiotics...

after that, I'm going to pearls. I have those on hand.

She won't eat the fortiflora anymore . It's either become a bad association or it's aggravating her too.

And it's not mattering what she eats....

This is the part I'm not quite understanding.
The vet thinks we just give her prednisolone and cerenia and cyclosporin ( which may be what triggers her yakking , watching again today after she
gets that pill)
and feed her whatever.... having to attack the inflammation.

But so far it's not really working.

still squirting, yakking, and I can tell she feels yucky.

And if it doesn't work, I am thinking I should release her sooner than later. Of course, who will tell my heart.
I just don't want her to continue suffering and if it's lymphoma, why should she?

but i can talk about it, I don't know how I will be able to take that action.

HUG MYSELF.....

(((Rhiannon))) I am sending so many vines and hugs for you and Shadow. I can't imagine how hard this must be. You are doing such a wonderful job caring for her and trying everything you can. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

(((Rhiannon))) Thinking of you and sending vines, hoping for a miracle or at least an easy answer. :bighug::bighug: You are a fantastic momma bean for your girl. Just love on her.

Gads, I sound like some heartless !!$$%1! , I am so sorry for sounding that way.. Your situation is close to my heart... And I keep looking for clues and answers, I have potential liver issues with Tiger as well. I am nervous of the cyclosporin in fact... I'm a fixer not a sit on my hands kind of person :oops: ------------None of this is easy. All medications have some side effects and risks so we have to make choices. I feel for you, I am with you, with Tiger, our US said early IBD, but without biopsy, there is no 100%, andit can always turn into lymphoma so there are no easy answers. I am praying for you and Shadow- you know her best, you are there with her and I know you are taking it all into consideration but please know that we are all pulling for her and you, with all our hearts!! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Ruth , I don't think so....

I want to fix it too....

I am wondering if my insulin might be toasty...
I have had it for at least a year, longer I think, it's a pen... it's been in the back of my fridge for a very long time....
when I thought I might have to start when I discovered her severe arthritis issue....

I 'll call the vet and get them to call in a new one.

I think these numbers are just her.

{{{Rhiannon}}},

I sure do feel for you. This is no easy situation to deal with. Only you and Shadow can decide what is best. Since you are already feeding a Hill's prescription food, have you tried z/d? It's what they prescribed for Harvey when they were trying to determine if he had IBD or lymphoma. It's supposed to be easy on the tummy. Worth a try.

Sending lots of healing vines for dear Shadow and comfort vines for you. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Please forgive me if I am making a suggestion that you have decided you don't want to pursue. What about leukeran? It sounds like whatever is going on has been for some time and the next drug if this is small cell is leukeran. It is usually well tolerated when given in the pulse method with the support of ondansetron and cerenia combined and can be effective for both IBD and lymphoma. Again I hope I'm not overstepping here and I won't bring it up again.:bighug::bighug::bighug:

hm... I will ask about the leukeran.
I have not had any such suggestion.

the vet had said without a biopsy /dx that they couldn't give me chemotherapy drugs....
I'm assuming that is one.... I'm gonna look it up.

Okay here's the deal. Yes they usually won't give a chemo drug without a biopsy but you aren't going to go that route. If this is small cell which progresses slowly it responds well to leaker an and prednisolone given together. Pred alone only works fro awhile. You seem to be seeing negative changes which might mean pred alone isn't helping enough which would be the case with small cell. Some vets give leaker an for uncontrolled IBD. Many cats do get nauseous from it but cerenia,, ondansetron, or both usually work. Small cell progresses slowly and responds to treatment slowly but it does respond. In your situation I don't know what you have to lose by trying it. You could end up with remission and many more months of quality life. Pulse dosing means giving the whole dose once every two weeks which means if nausea occurs it's generally bad for a few days.

Many vets won't treat like this without a biopsy to confirm but when will. How long has Shadow had the issues?

the diarrhea started about 3 weeks ago.
and the vet said the proviable and the clay and the cerenia shot ( she's due again tomorrow but getting a pill this time) and the metrodiazole are all supposed to stop the diarrhea
and it hasn't.

Metrodiazole should stop the diarrhea. Before that was IBD ever suspected? Any symptoms in the past? Was an Ultrasound done? I thought I read it was but wasn't conclusive or am I micing her up with someone else ?

she has had two u/s... about 4 months apart...
they both show thickened intestine, her pylorus is thick, her two nodes beside her spleen are visible. It hadn't changed between the two times.

dx was possible ibd or lymphoma....
then an internist ( who did 2nd ultrasound) did a Thymadine Kinase Assay to VDI. and from that test he thinks IBD.
but I hear that test is so new, it might not be true.

so my local vet is treating as IBD for now.

So I am remembering correctly. Have you tried a novel protein? Any vomiting?

The vet on the lymphoma list doesn't reccommend that test. Unfortunately the U.S. didn't give a diagnosis. If the symptoms persist with the medication I would try leukeron if she were mine and my vet agreed. I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. I wish there were better tests so a biopsy weren't needed for diagnosis. Maybe some day.

I have tried the last novel protein....kangaroo and squash from rayne industrial. She ate it for about 5 days, then she quit.

Shadow has eaten every other protein I can find.
chicken, turkey, seafood, rabbit, quail, brushtail, venison, beef, pork, duck, lamb.... i am probably forgetting one. and raw chicken, turkey, but I can only get her to eat the raw
if I put a raw shrimp in it. (her favorite thing)
