Your sweet Henry is still an enigma to me  I wish we could get those darned am values down! Have you tried feeding him at +10 or +11 before the am shot time to see if the food drops him? Lori's Tom comes to mind here.....

Nice #'s yesterday. Yay for some blues! Henry is definitely an enigma but so lucky to have you Angela. Can you remind us what other medications Henry takes? Is it just the baby aspirin and glaucoma drops? When does he get the drops? A couple times a day or just at night? Just grasping at anything that might be raising his #'s overnight. Hard to believe that eye drops would be the culprit though. Paws crossed for some more blues today.

kelly, yes i have tried feeding Henry at +11, testing and then testing at +12 and he usually lower at +12 after eating.
Holly, Henry takes a 1/2 baby aspirin every 3 days and he takes Timilol drops 3x a day for Glaucoma, and Xalantin drops once a day (at night) for Glaucoma. The only other med he was taking was Cipro a month or so ago for a gram negative UTI.
The only other thing he has had was 1 Metacam injection when his spinal disc disease was discovered several months ago.
Glad we're getting some pretty good mid cycle numbers again today.

Hmmm. Wonder about feeding him at + 9 or +10 (auto feeder). I think you said your hubby fed him around 4 am, is that right? How long after the pm shot is that? If he is headed up to that 400 range and food will bring him down, that could possibly mean a lower amps? You have been on 1.75 for a couple cycles and the last two days the nadirs have been better. (Update your ss, Angela  ) I think if your nadirs stay in the mid 150 range, you could try 2 units in a day or so.

Grasping at straws. I'm with Kelly. I don't understand why the insulin works one way during the day and a completely different way at night. Activity level? We have tried to change the food around.....

I will update my spreadsheet.
I have been using the auto feeder but he doesn't always eat from it. Usually, he sleeps, but if someone is up he'll eat then. He usually eats around 4:00 a.m. thats 7 hours from pm shot. I feed him a 1/2 can about 11:30 0r 12:00 when I go to bed.
We've been on 1.75U for about 2 days. I can try to get up at 7:00 a.m. and give him 1/2 a can. Sometimes he'll eat from the auto feeder then but usually he won't eat but a few bites unless someone is up and he wakes up.

Anyone know anything about Congenital Glaucoma in a puppy? I am thinking of taking in a 4 month old Bichon Frise who has congenital glaucoma in one eye. His other eye is good. The woman giving him up says that the eye may or will need to be removed. His other eye is normal. Can anyone tell me anything about congenital glaucoma?

Sorry I am not familiar with congenital Glaucoma, other than I believe it is usually more acute and harder to control with meds, I think it may be caused from some defect in the structure of the eye/tear duct.
My cat Henry, developed Glaucoma in both eyes when he was 9, almost 10 years old and he has been on eye drops for over a year and his pressure has normalized in both eyes.
Undiagnosed diabetes can contribute to development of Glaucoma.
It sounds like your puppy's is probably caused from a structural issue. I would get a second opinion from more than one vet before proceeding.
Sorry I could not be of more help.

OMG, here is how this thread went for me:

- YAY, some blues for Mr. Henry!!!
- Wait, that's half his dose, hmmm. Must be Angela is trying out the new vial. Weird how the nadirs are better, but the PSs are worse.
- DOUBLE YAY, Sue & Oliver is back in town, woohoo!! I can't believe six weeks have gone by already. Gosh, life goes by SOOOOO fast, yikes.
- I'm glad people have all these great ideas for Angela, maybe those feeding experiments will help out Henry, yay!

Back to board... wait.... Angela has two threads, huh? Oh yeah, no it's one, the one I just read. No wait there's two.
