I'm not quite sure how to handle this. Vinnie was doing pretty well for a few months, but then we started the move to a new house which led to a lot of stress and constant meowing and neediness. We've been moving gradually since early March and between being locked in rooms, the furniture disappearing in the old house, being moved into a new house and the chaos in the new house with handymen working etc., Vinnie's numbers and insulin needs have been going up. I'm afraid to increase his insulin too rapidly in case it's temporary and he suddenly drops back down once he settles in. Plus with everything going on, it's been challenging to watch him as much as we had been. But we're going into the third week of him being up in the 200s and 300s so I'm wondering if I should be increasing his insulin by greater amounts or more frequently? (I use calipers so I've only been going up about 1/10 of a unit each time and I'm waiting 6 cycles between increases).

I would stick to the 0.25U increases. If it is temporary, you always have the option to skips and such to drain depot if he comes down fast.

Now...I'm wondering if he has something else going on and the house is just coincidence. When was the last time he had lab work done? Namely, thyroid and kidneys? That yowling at night/anxiety can be signs of thyroid and kidney disease as well.

It could also be he's just disoriented or lonely? I've moved a few times and Mr Kitty has been ok. But is it completely dark at night? Maybe leave a few lights on?

Thank you for the response @FrostD ! We are doing a full course of bloodwork in about a week, but I'm fairly confident it's the move. We have a weird situation - Vinnie was a feral when we brought him in and domesticated him. Unfortunately, he's very aggressive with other cats and FIV positive so we have to keep him separated from our other two cats. He has his own room but gets to roam the house 12 hours of the day. At night he is in his room while the other two cats have the roam of the house. He was fine with this in the old house, but I think he's a little scared being alone at night in the new house. He's okay in his room for his "afternoon nap" of a few hours, but at night he cries. We slept with him the first few nights but are trying to get him used to going back to the normal routine so we have been leaving him alone for 4-5 hours, then going in and sleeping with him for the rest of the night. It's exhausting! But as soon as we go in, he stops crying and sleeps like a baby the rest of the night. He does have a night light, we play harp music in his room, we spray feliway, put out catnip and we have a pet heating pad with a heartbeat simulator that we leave on the bed. I'm willing to try any other ideas to calm him down!
