Good Morning LL! Muffin is having yet another CP flare, and this one is all my fault...again. I had the girls spend the night before the first day back at school after spring break, and in the morning hustle to get them out the door on time, I left their breakfast dishes out. When I came home, Muffin was happily having pancakes and loads of syrup. This was Tuesday morning. So I've been watching for a flare, and sure enough....Wednesday night she wouldn't eat her dinner. Yesterday morning she wasn't interested in breakfast, although she did eventually eat it at some point during the day. Then in the evening her fur was pokey and I could tell she didn't feel well. Tested and got 213. Gave her bupe, which really made her spacey for the first time that I've really noticed. She just laid on my bed staring off into space. Wouldn't eat last night, but I made sure to put out food anyway, in case she wanted something overnight. By the time I got up this morning, she was eating a little of that. I tested and got 170. She only ate a tiny bit, but she seems to be feeling a little better than last night. This afternoon I'm taking her in for a cerenia injection. I'm not going to bother paying for BW, as I'm reasonably certain of what's going on. I'm going to monitor her BG for a couple of days before making a decision about insulin. So far it's not all that high.
In other news, I took Shnookie to UC Davis for his pre-I131 exam. The IM vet is not entirely convinced he even has hyperthyroid, and was discussing his case with the resident expert there, who's been studying feline hyperthyroidism for 40 years. This dr wants to use Shnookie as a learning/teaching experience, so they have offered to pay for the thyroid scan that they do to figure out dosage for the I131. Then we will take Shnookie off the methimazole for 2 months and they will pay for a repeat scan, looking for proof that he even has the disease. So I am excited and proud that Shnookie will have the opportunity to help others in this way.
