4/4: Sammy - AMBG 70 - OTJ Trial Day 1

Yesterday's Condo

Last night we decided to skip last nights dose. Sammy had another inverted curve yesterday even on the tiny dose of .1u, so instead of continue to have his body fight with the insulin we discontinued it. And as it turned out his numbers were better last night then they had been on insulin.

We are considering today as Day 1 of our OTJ Trail. If you check my spreadsheet you will see that I am doing a bit of extra testing these first couple of days because the reductions and stopping of insulin was so unconventional and I just want to monitor more closely to make sure that I made the right decision.

Hope everyone has a great day. It is going to be a busy one for me today, so I might not have much time to check the boards today, but I will try to stop in later today to see how everyone is doing.
 
Oh, I forgot to mention that even though we don't have to get up at 5:15 am or test every two hours Sammy has a schedule and he woke me up just before our normal AMPS at 5:15 am and then again 2 hours later. LOL! I always have said that cat can tell time. LOL! Hopefully it won't take too long to get him on a different schedule for meals so that he won't wake me up at all hours of the night, because he also woke me up once in the middle of the night also. I didn't do a test, but I did get him an extra snack when he woke me up.
 
Good luck with the trial. I don't think I would give treats for the early morning wake up calls or they will never end! Have a great holiday weekend.
 
Wishing you and Sammy good Luck with getting OTJ . You have worked hard keeping him in the low numbers. So good when another kitty gets OTJ.

I am a little nervous about the low 100's today, but I took a chance and gave Sammy a bit of the Max Cat Venison today, and that might have been my mistake. For tonight and tomorrow I will stick with the Friskies Special Diet Turkey and Giblet, Wellness Turkey and 9Lives Flaked Tuna and Egg. Hopefully we will see some more numbers back down in the 70's and 80's. I am going to do another test in an hour before I go to bed and I am going to try to leave enough food out so that Sammy won't wake me up in the middle of the night. Although he has gotten really spoiled with the fresh food every few hours. I just hope he will get back on his own eating schedule over night so that I don't have to get up two and three times a night.

Sounds like Sammy has really gotten used to the mini meals - which are still a good idea during the OTJ trial. I find it impossible to stop giving any of the meals around here. :rolleyes:
