hope all doing ok

also: any suggestion on ear testing to miss the vein? use a lancing device and do our best but get it a lot…. (tried free hand and ripped his ear cuz he jumped so nope haha whelp) maybe just comes w it.. but if any got a tip.

Oh, shoot. Doing it by hand was all I had to suggest. I'm sorry it didn't go well. It could still be worth another shot. Poor guy. I hope you get some different answers. :cat:

lol thank u anyway!!! you know could be me im nervous too and so don't go well but for us the gun seems to work best so far.. I have had to do pokes myself when the device broke (which has happened more than once.. cheap plastic..) and did it ok but no. just trying to make pokes a bit less hurtful/bothersome.. *smile tear
ps. yay otj party soon!!! :cat:

Well, I had another thought. I think most of us do it by hand, so the 26 gauge or 28 guage recommendation might be more suited to poking by hand. You could try a smaller lancet, like a 30 gauge, for the lancing device???

that's exactly what we use now.. haha.:bighug: the 30/31.. only one I see of ReliOn offered really, aside from the even smaller gauge but that's for something else..

yeah, I have a Relion Platinum that I got for the app which turned out to be not as helpful as I'd imagined... LOL the meter is great though. It charges. no changing batteries. For lancets I use the Free Style 28 gauge. The have a very good grip. like tread on hicking boots.

We sadly hit that vein too often with the lancet pen as well. I've wondered if that has contributed to his anemia! unlikely. My BF had to do most of the tests yesterday and ohhhh poor Petey's ears.

I am going to mark the pen where middle is to see if I can better hit the edge. Can't hurt to try and I don't know why they can't make a better suited pen!

poor Petey and peanut over here... sigh. its hard to see right, but we try.. and idk either.. I am glad to have it cuz I just can't do it good freehand... but its true idk why it gotta be so thick haha.. it is hard to see. :bookworm:

ooh anemia.. hmm I kinda doubt it too, is he bleeding a lot tho with pokes? I've been trying to get the upper ear more, bypass the vein as much as I can.. I also go up and down the ear to give spots a break.. ugh. (and he's so good.. he just lets me..... *smiley face tear :arghh:..)

Much the same here. I have leant that to get between the vein and the edge of the ear it needs to look as if I am going to miss the ear entirely. If I aim the lancet pen at what looks like the 'right' place it is too often on the vein. For me the mid ear is better than the upper ear. I always use a cottonwool ball behind the ear for stability and leverage. Altho I try to alternate one ear is much better than the other.
Must have done 100s and 100s of pricks by now and still miss on a regular basis. Eternally grateful that Noogi's is (usually) so patient and good.

These are both available in the store. The Premier one is one a lot of members use. It looks like it has an app too. Uses batteries.

The bottom one, Platinum, is the one I got because of the phone app that would connect to the device by Bluetooth. This is a feature that I don't use. The app took over my phone settings and would log me out randomly and it was awkward to log back in. I use the spreadsheet so I don't really need the app. Both devices store a lot of BG values. Mine charges, which is nice. And the BG lights up, also nice.
