Well our run in the the greens is over for now Eeyore bounced high last night and judging by his pre-shot I would surmise that he was high all night. Either the extra insulin from his larger doses has run out and the 1.5 just isn't enough or he is just reacting and will adjust? I will see the how the day goes but I am contemplating going back up to 1.75 for this evenings shot.

Since you've given him a fat 1.50u this morning, what are your thoughts on keeping him on that dose for another... say... 4-6 cycles to see how he'll do, and then make a dose decision after that point?

That late dinner may also have a bearing on his higher #s, too. For experimental purposes, try feeding him at different times if you can, and see how he does. He may require more food, but less frequently (ie. 6x/day or 4x/day), with perhaps a bit of time between meals. FD is all about experimenting until you find the right combination to help bring those #s more manageable levels.

Just a thought.

I am open to keeping Eeyore at the 1.5 dose for a few more cycles to see if he can adjust. I guess I was just getting happy about seeing those green numbers and I didn't want to let them go! We have been experimenting different feeding options. Today he had his breakfast with his preshot at 7:30am but I didn't give him the full amount I normally do. I then let him have a little more to eat around +3. He probably would have gladly eaten more later in the afternoon, but upon talking with some others earlier in the week I decided to try and not feed him during the middle of the cycle. I will let him have another little bit around +9-10 and then his actual meal at his preshot. I will also then let him have another little bit at +3 again so we will see if the two meals, and then snacks a few hours later will do anything.

Melanie, I agree that you should stick to the 1.5U dose for a few cycles yet. Eeyore has shown in the past that he can bounce for 5 cycles after his low event - today is just cycle two after yesterday's low. I'm not sure why you increased this morning, I'd go back to 1.5U tonight. Remember that dosing is based on the nadirs and not the preshot values.

Good luck with the new food schedule you are trying. Just remember that it can take a couple weeks at a particular food schedule to see the effects of the changes.
