My beloved Crystal will finally give up her daily struggle with acromegaly this afternoon and gain her angel wings. She is my soulmate and it is so hard to let her go but we can't fight this battle anymore. This is the hardest decision I have ever had to make, I have cried so many tears over the last few weeks watching her deteriorate as this horrible disease takes over my beautiful girl. I vowed when she was diagnosed with acro, that I wouldn't let her suffer and I will keep my promise to her, even though it breaks my heart. I have been blessed to have her love for nearly 11 years.

Please pray for a peaceful crossing for her as she goes to join all our beloved kitties at the rainbow bridge, where she will be whole and happy again.

Fly free little one, you touched my heart like no other.

Fly sweetly, long and land softly sweet crystal you will be missed

Norse Legend of the Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

(((((((((Suki))))))))
(((((((((Crystal ))))))) such a beautiful photo of a brave and courageous little girl.
I know this is the hardest of days for you........ you are giving her the final act of love.
I pray Crystal has a peaceful crossing to the rainbow bridge where she will no doubt be met by many old friends.
I hope you can gain some comfort in knowing there are many of us from all over the world holding you both close and crying with you.

{{{Suki}}}

I knew this day was coming, but my heart is breaking as I try to see through my tears to type. You have been such an incredible bean, managing Suki's FD and Acro with all the obstacles that have been thrown in your path. You have given her the best possible QOL, and now, when you know there is no more you can do, you are giving her the ultimate gift. I know what this costs you. Please imagine all of us, holding your hand as you help Crystal cross. We are there with you in spirit. In the days to come, you may need to talk, or not. We are here for you. Please lean on us.

Sending you our love and prayers. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Fly free, sweet Crystal, and land softly.

(((Suki))) I am so saddened to hear that Crystal has to cross the bridge. You have done everything possible to give her time and comfort through this terrible disease and now you are giving the greatest act of love in letting her be free. Sending prayers and strength at this most difficult time.

((((Suki))))

My heart aches along with yours. Making the right decision is often the hardest decision. It is also the only decision possible when you make a promise to not let your kitty endure any more suffering. You are keeping your promise.

A long time ago, another member here passed along this fable of why we choose tears. I hope it brings you some comfort.

Fly free Crystal and land softly. There are many of our kitties waiting for you at the Bridge to keep you safe and happy until you are reunited with the one you love best.

Suki, Just know you are not crying alone. My heart is breaking. I Kept praying that something could be done. I know Crystal will leave a hole in many hearts. Take comfort that you and DH did all you could to help her. Fly free Sweet Crystal R. I. P cat_wings>o You will be missed.

Dear friends,
Tears are flowing as I read your prayers and poems for my beautiful girl :bighug: My heartfelt thanks to you all for holding us close in your hearts. I am overwhelmed, yet again, by your love for Crystal.

We will be leaving home in just over an hour, I have given Crystal a tranquilizer in her last dish of prawns to help with the journey, she is calm. I'm sure she knows it's her time, and she is ready. We spent some time outside in the sunshine this morning and she slowly followed me as we visited all her favorite spots. She kept crying for me if I was out of sight, so I haven't left her side apart from now. I've said my goodbyes in case she is sleeping later. John and I are totally devastated but your prayers and love will help us as Crystal starts her new journey.

Suki, I'm SO sorry it's Crystal's time but what a life of love you have shared together. Thank you for sharing her with us too. BIG HUGE loooooong hug - always remember, she's not 'gone', you just have to hug her differently.

Soar high on your new angel wings beautiful girl....landing softly back in Mama's broken heart....

More hugs and prayers Suki,

Dear ((((Suki and John)))),
Your beautiful, brave Crystal is about to begin her journey. She was blessed to have shared her life with you--to have been so loved. We know that her crossing will be peaceful and that at the Rainbow Bridge all the GAs will welcome her and keep her safe until that wonderful day when you will meet again.
Fly free, dear Crystal. You are much loved,

In deepest sympathy,

Ella, Edward, Rusty, and Stu(GA)

I hope that Crystal sends you and John a sign that she has made her journey safely, graced with peace, and lets you know she is now waiting among friends.

Someone posted this on Facebook the day after Gabby crossed. I added it to my signature: "Cats never completely leave you. They side step time, shrug off death - come at the call of memory their beauty undiminished, their touch as gentle, their love perpetual."

They are so wise. Even in their parting they have so much to teach us.

And God asked the feline spirit “Are you ready to come home?”

“Oh, yes, quite so”, replied the precious soul.
“And as a cat, you know I am most able to decide anything for myself.”

“Are you coming then?” asked God
“Soon”, replied the whiskered angel.
“But I must come slowly
My human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.”

“But don’t they understand?” asked God –
“That you’ll never leave them?”
“That your souls are intertwined, for all eternity,
That nothing is created or destroyed,
It just is . . . forever and ever and ever?”

“Eventually they will understand” replied the cat
“For I will “Whisper” in her heart – that I am always with her.
I just am . . . forever and ever and ever!

Healing light for your broken hearts.

Dearest Suki and John

I woke up early this morning, laid there listening to the birds singing, and did the time change math in my head thinking that you were probably helping Crystal transition to her new life of health perhaps around that time. I prayed again that my precious baby girl would be waiting there to guide Crystal and my tears flowed as I thought of you and John and your pain in letting her go but your strong and forever love in setting her free.

Please know you no longer have to be strong....you can feel all that you need to feel and we will all be here for you.

Sweet Crystal....you taught us all so much and that is your gift along with having such great humans who will love you forever and ever. Please show them a sign that you are dancing in the stars.

Crystal passed peacefully at 4.00 pm this afternoon, held in my arms, until she rested her head on my shoulders and went to sleep. I had time to love and stroke her before and she was at peace, I told her of all her extended LL&L family's messages of love and which kitties to look for at the Bridge to help her adjust to her new life. Our vet was very kind and I could see she was upset as well, she said she would have done the same thing so I have no regrets, only that we didn't have more time together. We are having her cremated and will get her ashes in about 2 weeks' time. I am so happy that we had some special time together this morning in the spring sunshine, she sat and took it all in as if she knew ........ it just doesn't seem real, there is a terrible hole in my heart that I don't think will ever heal. I've never seen John so upset but he couldn't face being there at the end, he said his goodbyes before we left.

Today I wore my beautiful crystal heart pendant, which Crystal was named after because it was the very first thing she reached out to as I held her close all those years ago when we found her as an abandoned three week old kitten. Every time I wear it I always think of Crystal, now it will be even more poignant.

I can't begin to thank you all for your messages, and especially the poems, they have been a great comfort to me. I intend to make a memory box for her in a few weeks, and will print off and keep all your kind words. The vet cut a lock of her fur for me so that will go in her special box too.

I never envisaged that we would get this far but it is all down to the invaluable advice and support of the wise acrokitty mums, my special "Team Crystal" who guided us through our journey. There are many other special friends we made along the way who listened, supported, cheered her on every time she had a small victory and rejoiced when she became FD regulated. Together we managed to give Crystal an extra 18 months, for which I am eternally grateful. But most of all I just want to thank each and every one of you for just loving Crystal as your own - she was a very special girl who fought bravely with never a murmur, always loving, always trusting to the very end.

I can no longer
See you with my eyes
Touch you with my hands
But I will feel you in my
heart
Forever
