@-) :YMSIGH: Feeling a bit wiped out right now. Moses just meowed hello, he's doing good.

Made an appointment w/the diagnosis clinic, very fancy stuff. Worries me to continue hearing about Moses' heart arrhythmia referred to as heart disease. We scheduled an appointment for Moses to come in this coming Wednesday, to possibly receive an ECG or a radiograph of his thorax (2 views) or both. Heard the estimate for both options and it's way too expensive. To just get a great digital ECG (including the office consultation prior and treatment plan after) might be doable, but it's still really expensive. I need to know this info, to see if his heart is strong enough for surgery, but what about paying for the possible surgery? It's nerve-wracking.

Plus, Moses would be dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon. I can only imagine what his BG will be.

So! I have some questions for my new vet about the estimate he created. Do I go to the highly advanced specialty ("human quality technology" is what he told me)? Or can I get a great ECG inhouse from my vet clinic, instead? I'm not sure. I'll call tomorrow and find out.

I'm glad Moses' is feeling good.

Re: 4/30 Moses AMPS 113 +10~156

Glad Moses is feeling good Erica....my goodness, you have a lot to think about. Sending hugs to you both.
I'm afraid I don't know anything about all the conditions that you have on your mind....
But, was just thinking, the 'heart disease" can mean the irregularity...so try to not focus on the terminology too much. Once you have some tests explained and done you will be able to understand what is involved.
Glad he was a good boy at the vet office....they do get so stressed with the ride there and all. Hope he will be ok this Wed too for you....
After you talk to your vet tomorrow, maybe people here will have some input.
Hope you and Moses have a good night! :YMHUG:

Re: 4/30 Moses AMPS 113 +10~156

Erica I am upset to hear about this, but sending my strongest vibes to Moses that this is nothing, & easily treated--
My civvie has a heart murmur & had an echo in vet's office- this year also scared us-They said the blood rushes thru his heart faster than most cats, & have it rechecked in the next few months--which we will..Nothing to do yet..
I know Moses will be just fine after all this is done..Giant Hugs to all of you~!

Re: 4/30 Moses PMPS 130

Thank you! Having your encouragement really makes me feel better. I'm so happy I have sugarkitties and beans to sympathize with

And Moses is playful, running around like normal. Like "what's wrong?" and it's just the bean that's like @-) And he's the one with the heart condition attacking the mouser! My heart is healthy and I'm feeling heart pains just getting the info! Something's not right, lol

Anyways, I choose to laugh about it now, take a deep breath. And move forward. I will officially call my new vet, Dr. Brewer, tommorow w/questions b/c my brain is fried today.

Happy Friday

Who is the consultation with? A cardiologist? What do you mean by a digital ECG?

Can you do the radiographs at your regular hospital?

Re: 4/30 Moses PMPS 130 +4.5~39

Thank you so much everybody! :YMHUG: Moses and I feel the love  In fact, Moses has so much lovin' that his heart has to pump extra hard!

Anyways, a 39 at his +4.5! Time for the gravy, he's snacking on some right now. Toot toot! Gravy Train!

Re: 4/30 Moses PMPS 130 +4.5~39

Once you get Moses' numbers up...

I hope you saw Jess' note above. She is a vet tech that specializes in cardiology. She's a great person to get information from and to help you formulate questions to ask your vet.

Oh and to answer your questions, Jess.

I am having a second consultation at the Animal Diagnosis Clinic. My new regular vet, Dr. Brewer, referred me to them for x-rays and sonograms. I haven't met anyone at the diagnosis clinic yet, only have spoken over the phone. I remember the front desk telling me they were a "top-notch board certified specialty group of veterinarians." Here's the website: http://www.adcdallas.com/ The front page surely describes their credentials and I'm certain they'll set me up the cardiologist. I can call back and make certain of it. I said "digital ECG" to try to describe their equipment that they use. It's supposed to the most sophisticated technology out there for animals. It's so great that it's "human" quality, is how he described it. (I'm a graphic designer and all I could remember was them telling me the high resolution and quality of their digital technology, sorry).

Meanwhile, before I spoke to this clinic, Dr. Brewer gave me his procedure estimate, which I misunderstood. He listed a:
1. radiograph - thorax, 2 view
2. ECG - Full (VHI by phone)
3. ECG - Preoperative

I thought this was an estimate he created for Moses at the diagnosis clinic. Turns out, he might be able to do this stuff at his own vet hospital. But! I'm calling him tomorrow to get it straightened out.

Big difference between Dr Brewer's procedures and a day at the diagnosis clinic. It could be anywhere from $600-1,000 at the diagnosis clinic (x-ray, sonogram, consultation, treatment plan). Or $320-385 w/Dr. Brewer (for an xray and sonogram).

Am I making sense?

Re: 4/30 Moses PMPS 130 +3.5~39 +4~57

He's 57 now. Looking better gravy boy. I'll get another test in 30, and then maybe beddies.

b/t/w he was 39 at +3.5, not +4.5. I made a typo. I corrected it though.
