+3 was 76 so I am going to feed 2 tsp low carb... any suggestions on when to test next?

Jamie - I just want to say what a great job you're doing. Looks like onset has begun! You have learned so much and are doing the right things. I would probably get a +4 to see if he is surfing after the food or dropping further/faster.

Okay I will get a +4... just SOOO nervous about him going really low at night when nobody is around...

I mean I know if he goes under 50 to give him MC or HC (I think?....I have such a hard time remembering things)

I know I am in control of his numbers as long as I am testing and feeding. I am just so scared of him having a hypo when everyone is sleeping

I have printed out directions on what to do if he has a hypo - but I will probably for sure panic. I am just afraid to deal with it the first time...alone

If you are worried Jamie, you can get a test 30 min after eating to see where he is. If he is much lower, you can still feed LC if he is above 50, then the MC or HC after he drops below 50. You are going just fine - you know more than you think. Are you alone tonight; Dane isn't around? Remember, if you need to sleep, you can abort the cycle if necessary.

You're doing great, Jamie. You did a spectacular job keeping him surfing today!

Just stick with the LC unless he falls below 50. Then give him some MC. As Katie said, you can test every 30 minutes if you need to and if the numbers start to worry you, give him two tsp of HC gravy. If the gravy doesn't bring him up, give him a drop of karo/honey. Remember the HC wears off after about an hour or two so you have to stay on the numbers.

You can do this...you know how.

I am not worried about these numbers hes having right now... I know how to deal with these numbers.... I just test him and if he starts dropping a little I just feed him 2 tsp LC.

I am only worried if they would start dropping a lotttt

Okay so if he falls under 50 feed MC.

How low of numbers would you say I should feed HC instead of MC? Like if his numbers are less then ____ feed him HC?

Okay and at what point would I give Karo - and if I needed to give Karo - approx how much?



I just really want to make sure I ask any and all questions I might have now before everyone is sleeping for the night.

If he goes into the 40s, try the HC gravy ...2 tsp...retest in 30. If he stays around the same number in the 40s, Try the gravy again. if he continues to fall, give him them karo. I bet he will come up with the HC.

If I would end up needing to give Karo - how much would I give and how do I give it to him?

I would tend to agree Jamie. Did he only eat the small amount of LC food? I'm wondering if this is the first sign of a bounce starting. I wouldn't be surprised... this looks like the longest run he's had in low blue and greens so far since he's started the insulin.

I think he's starting to bounce.

If he comes back down and you have to give karo...just a drop....you can put it in his food.

I wonder if getting a +5 will tell you where he's headed. I wonder too if this could just be a higher number in the cycle and then he could still come down later like he has in the past. I would think if +5 is higher yet, you'd probably be ok going to bed and leaving food out. If it is near the same or lower again you'll probably want to test again around +7 or +8 to see if he's having a late nadir like in past cycles. What do you think?

He had like 2 tsp LC. I am going to test at +5 just to be sure he doesnt come back down - if he goes up even higher- I will sleep for a few hours and get a test later in the cycle.

That sounds like a great plan. Well, I'm off to bed - I have to work early in the morning so I better get a few winks while I can. I hope the rest of the night goes well - I'm sure it will. See you tomorrow! :-D Oh, and what beautiful cycles so far today - best yet! :-D
 
I wanted to stay up and see where he was. Looks like Jupe has a few tricks up his paws tonight for you. 90 isn't bad. Do you feel comfortable for the rest of the night on your own?
 
Yeah I think I will be fine. I am not nervous when his numbers are above 70... just get nervous below that.. He is eating now - and as normal, left a ton of LC food out tonight. Will test in 1 hr to make sure his numbers arent still decreasing

I did notice him free feeding about 30 minutes prior to test and it looks like he ate a lot. Will test again in 2 hours.
 
Wow, Jamie! Busy night for you and Jupe - but you did great as usual. Hoping you have a nice,smooth surf of blues and greens today!
