Re: 4/30 Chi Chi AMPS 311

I'll be curious to see what happens today. Some cats experience a drop in their numbers after a flat, yellow cycle.

Blue # finally at +6. We have been experimenting with feed times all along now, and am still undecided what time/how much to give. Today I waited til +6 and fed, which was an hour later than usual, because I just needed to see what her # was without feeding when she is at nadir. Now Im thinking of just feeding twice a day, at amps and pmps. She has been slowly gaining weight since dx on 1/18/14 from 13.9 up to 15.6, and she was originally average 18lbs(shes a large cat). My dilemma is, does she need more than the twice a day of 1 can ff? That's only 6oz. or should I feed smaller more frequent? Curious, when/how much does everyone else feed? I know, I know ECID. Oh, and today before I tested at +6, I could tell she was lower because she was playing with the lancet device cap, tossing it around etc. and was love biting me and letting me rub her belly. I got the cat toy feather stick out and she had a ball with it. I haven't seen that in a while! She was feelin good :-D I have to run get some more testing supplies cuz I went thru a bunch this past week, and will test when I get back later.

Great to hear Chi Chi was feeling so playful. :-D

I think most people here feed more smaller meals - it's easier on a healing pancreas than eating all at once. Maybe try a couple of meals per cycle? One at PS and the other a couple hours later. It also depends on the cat. People who have cats that like to dive early in the cycle will spread out the food a bit to dry to ease the diving. I've always fed Neko a little bit just before my bed time in the hopes that she'll let me sleep until my alarm goes off. As for amount of food, try weighing Chi Chi every week or two and seeing what the two cans does for her weight. Has the vet suggested what would be a good target weight for her?
