Considering that we are half an hour off MY ideal shooting times of 7am/7pm and Robbie's been 6:30 am/pm most of this weekend - at 349 at 6pm (amps +11 from the "official" SS grid but not really where we've been - I know I should move things around but it's just easier for me to keep notes and check what I've noted here) should I just go for it at 6:30 again? Following Carls advice from my other post dated today - I should probably start regulating myself to Sir Rob's schedule (yes, his full registered name is Sir Rob McLaughlin - how appropriate) and figure he's more a 6am/6pm kitty (who cares if mom's not a morning person, gets no sleep and is REM deprived - I'll be holding up banks pretty soon - at least I'll finally be able to pay off the vet). Truth be told (and I am loath to admit this) he's probably a 5am/5pm kitty but that is just WHACKED and I cannot give into it - cruel and unusual punishment of your loving bean if you ask me. So - anyone out there with thoughts? I have 10 minutes..... shoot or not to shoot and wait till 7pm?

I vote "shoot now".
He will continue to rise until this shot kicks in. If you are going to shoot 4.5 at a number, I'm thinking it's better to head the rise off an hour early.

thanks Carl I'm with you - I think I'm going to just start considering him a 6:30/6:30 schedule and see how that goes - he's used to getting dinner at 5:30ish but could probably be held off till 6:30 (if we turn up the volume on the TV and just keep him away from the lamp shades) and as for am and breakfast I think he can deal with 6:30 am also it's me that's not happy at that prospect - I'm wondering if I let him have the big snack he seems to want around midnight if he'll be sated until 6:30? Or if I give him a token amount at 11:30 as I go to bed and than have the auto feeder give him the mother load (full half a can) at say 1:30am (5 hours off his shot time and +7 which is just where his Nadair normally falls). I also have to give him less of the shrimp/cod food which I have been feeding way too much of cause he loves it, we over bought and it's so low carb. So I need to figure into all this that I"m moving him back over to the chopped grill feast which is still low but not as low.

then I'm looking at this for a schedule (what he seems to be looking for modified by what I think we might be able to manage) this comes to the almost 4 can's of FF low carb food he has been consuming recently

AMPS 6:30am Test, Feed full can, shoot
AMPS +2 8:30/9am 1/4 of a can watered down
AMPS +5/6 noon/1pm 1/2 can watered down fed either by Daddy or auto-feeder
PMPS 6:30pm Test, feed full can shoot
PMPS +2 8:30 1/4 of a can watered down (cause he seems to want/need more food about now)
PMPS +4.5 11:00pm 1/4 can watered down (so he'll let me go to bed)
PMPS +7 1:30 am 1/2 can watered down

6:30 am time to make the donuts again.......... MAYBE I make that 1:30 am 3/4 of a can - to hold him over so he doesn't wake me at 4:30/5am

First I think the schedule looks workable.
I also have to give him less of the shrimp/cod food which I have been feeding way too much of cause he loves it, we over bought and it's so low carb.
Maybe open a can of it, and one of a different flavor and mix them? Make him think he's eating fish, but sneak land animals into the mix?
So I need to figure into all this that I"m moving him back over to the chopped grill feast which is still low but not as low.
Bob wasn't a big fan of chopped grill until recently. I try to buy every variety they have on the shelves just so I can keep the tastes "new". But honestly, I've also never been a fan of "chopped grill" (although the can label is a pretty color). I look at all the others, and you can tell what animal is in the can....chicken, turkey, beef, cod, shrimp....what the hell is "grill"? I mean, what do they put in the can that they don't want to be too specific about? Is it like "everything leftover when the other cans are full?" Sort of like the "cheap sausage of cat foods"? But now it's on Bob's top five list for some reason only he knows.

6:30 am time to make the donuts again
oooh, is that a reference to the old TV commercials for Dunkin' Donuts? "Fresh every 4 hours". A much better slogan than "America Runs On Dunkin" but it's the only coffee grounds my Mr. Coffee ever brews!

Great minds think alike - I already have been mixing. It works
I don't know why we settled on this "flavor" I think it was the only one that my husband (who buys the cat food) remembered was low carb and so he just kept buying it - but Robbie eventually liked it - plus the discount store we buy the cases from doesn't offer very many kinds all the time - but the chopped grill was always there.
Funny - I thought it WAS a "flavor" .... what did I think it was? That escapes me now... geeze. Well, I'll have to figure out some other types that are low carb (I did print out the list for my husband) and we'll se how that goes.

Yes, Time to make the Donuts... Dunkin Donuts that is... my husbands favorite coffee. I drink it via our office Kureig every morning1

The lowest carb flavors tend to be the ones with seafood in them, but let your husband know that as long as it says "classic" on the label, it will be 4% or lower.

Is that really the case? I had read that than I looked at one of the break downs and that didn't seem to be simply the case. However, if it is true that makes it easy for him.

Yes, the "classics" are all the "lowest" carb fancy feasts avaiable. The ones you want to stay away from are the "sliced" and the "grilled" which are higher than 10%. That's what always confused me about "chopped grill". I saw "grill" and thought "bad". But chopped grill says "classic" on the label, and binky's says it's only 2% so it's one of the better choices.
Purina changed all the labels on Fancy Feast last year and made it easier on us. They say classic, grilled, sliced, flaked, etc on them now.

I remember the old guy waking up to make the donuts! And the DD in my home town actually had a guy in there making the donuts! I think that's gone the way of mass production!

Okay so "Chopped Grill"... I always assumed it was beef, and since Grayson consistently tossed up the beef, I don't think I've ever even bought chopped grill. Mom's term for that was "the part that went over the fence last"... I'm thinking Spam. Either way... unless someone tells me differently, I'll stick to the identifiable animals!

PMPS +4 is 229 and I've started his "food" schedule - silly how something as simple as writing it down can make me feel better about it and also makes it easier to gage what's going on. If this doesn't work than I can adjust but I have it clear in front of me - I've been winging it, relying on my notes of what I DID feed him instead of just saying ahead of time "this is what he gets" and sticking to it - I think I really have been sleep deprived since this all started - probably with my dad sick in the hospital I just wasn't thinking -
So we'll see how this goes and I'm one line over 4.5 on his dose too so we are working up to 5.00 u's slowly. He's been much more content tonight and although he doesn't look like he's grooming himself completely I think he feels OK, plus we snuck in a ketone test tonight - even though he got annoyed and walked forward allowing the stream to hit my wrist it was neutral so that's good.
