I feel like a really bad cat mom. Last night Georgie slipped past me and scarfed down his brothers high carb cat food. As a result he had quite high numbers and is high again today. DANGIT!!! Will this spike go away? His plus seven was still really high at 439. Hopefully this sort of thing only lasts a day.

That sneaky Georgie. Oh well, it happens.... Yes, he will come back down as the carbs are processed out. It may take a cycle... Cats have short digestive systems so food does not stay in them long. That is why they can eat raw food - bacteria doesn't stay in them long enough to become poisonous. That's also why they use the LB soon after eating.

Good to hear. He has a vet appointment and I rather him not be super high, but hey what can you do. What does LB mean?

Re: 4/30/2014 Georgie AMPS 500

LB=litter box

My cat ate our foster cats food a few weeks back & he was 505! I was so upset! And he bounces hard normally, but recovery time has been shorter in duration lately, so hopefully his pancreas is a bit more functional. It helps to feed all the cats the same food--we have 6 so it's much easier to put 6 plates of the same thing down.

Gerogie, whatchya thinkin'? Max is an only kitty, so he can't sneak others food, but if someone drops a potato chip on the floor, watch out! ;-)

Re: 4/30/2014 Georgie AMPS 500

I think Georgie has evened out now. His PMPS was at 279. I am so happy you all told me to take him to the vet. It seems like his back legs have gotten even worse, even since I left the house this morning. Hopefully my vet and I can find a solution because I cannot bear to watch the little guy slide around the floor any more and I fear it will just progress. Maybe a low potassium level? He does seem to have a lot of energy though. He wrestled a lot with his brother this morning. Hopefully there will be some positive news at the vet tomorrow. Last time I went, I came out in tears. Hopefully tomorrow I will have a smile.

Paws crossed and hopefully the vet can give him something to turn his condition around. Just a tip for you so we can see what his test numbers are, is when you test and get a #, open up your post and click on the little "edit" button at the top right of your first post message. Then Type the new # into the subject box.. will look like this---> 4/30 Georgie AMPS 500 +7 439 PMPS 279...this way people can see his numbers on the thread post. :smile: Sending healing and positive vines to your fur baby.

Thanks for the tip! He is fully on his haunches now which is making me cry. I am really worried. :sad:

I can imagine..must be heartbreaking to see. I know that if its neuropathy that it can be reversed with the right treatment..Lets just think positive and send healing thoughts for him. My cats are sensitive to my sadness and moods and can get stressed too if they feel Im tense. Im not saying to not be concerned, just give him lots of snuggles and kisses and tell him momma bean is getting help for him cat_pet_icon . And then you take him tomorrow and see what the vet says.

absolutely helps to have a good cry...in fact is probably necessary to let it out! Im praying everything will be ok..hope you can sleep ok too..keep us posted on the vet visit!
