Good morning. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. Kitties be good and surf safely:D:cool: Prayers for all:bighug:

Moey has his vetty appt. this afternoon. Paws crossed everything goes well. I'm quite nervous. He's not in the best of shape(losing weight/dental issues). I pray his bldwk looks good. I'm hoping there's a simple explanation for the weight loss. Obviously it could be his mouth. His appy hasn't diminished, in fact he's kinda ravenous. I'm not sure if it could be a thyroid problem or other things. He really needs dental work but, honestly I don't think Ole' fur pants is a good anesthetic candidate.
Has anyone noticed weight loss in their fur baby while eating Weruva? It does contain less fat than the Dr. Elsey's canned food(food boys use to eat). Moey is craving fat. He's been banished to his bedroom lately because I can't keep him off of the counters. He seeks out any fat that's been left unattended. I started adding chicken thighs to his diet hoping to ease his cravings. That just seems to upset his stomach(meatloaf position, no vomiting/diarrhea). So, now we're considering another food switch to smthg a bit higher fat.
Sorry for the ramble, needed to let it out:(

Ravan has kidney disease so I keep the Phos below 200. Carbs usually around 8-10% They have canned & raw available. I let them eat when ever they're hungry.
How old is Moey? If he's loosing weight & hungry are you feeding more?

Moey's going on 17 yrs young. I have begun allowing him to free feed. He gets as much food as he wants up until fast time. About 12oz canned food w/ 1 chicken thigh incorporated per day. In my brain that's more than adequate but, I could be wrong.

My DH videoed Moey's mouth while I held it open. Moey is too busy for me to get a good look in his mouth unassisted. Unfortunately I think we saw a mass under his tongue:(:blackeye::arghh:. My vet appt is for bldwk only(tech appt) so, I will email the video to the vet and get his thoughts.

Paws crossed the vet can get answers for you. :bighug:

How many calories a day is Moey getting? Some of the Weruva is really low calories per can, so they need to eat a lot more of it to maintain weight.

Total calories per day is about 492. The weruva is 143 kcal/can and the chicken thigh is around 200 calories. He gets 2 cans of the 6oz. weruva and 1 chicken thigh per day. He acts like is is starving to death and is starting to physically resemble a skeleton. I'm praying we're not dealing with oral cancer since seeing the video.

Hey there! I hope you get some answers from the vet !
If it is hyper thyroid, they are definitely hungrier and they lose weight. Good news is an easy fix with meds that are cheap. Fingers and paws crossed.

Back from the vet. Well we won't get labs for a couple of days. The senior panel was sent out(Idexx). The techs seem to think cancer from visual exam. His jaw has some swelling. Funny thing though. The ABs he was on recently(Clindamycin) brought the swelling down so, I assumed we were dealing with a dental infection. He's definitely dehydrated so, sq fluids for now. He doesn't appear to be in pain and his appetite is top notch. I'm at a loss right now. Feeling really defeated. We'll take it day by day. Just going to keep him happy for as long as he's willing.

Oh my... I'm sorry to hear that's what the vet thinks. I hope you get the results soon and better information about what's going on there.

Sending hugs to you - sounds like you've had a rough day. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
