Re: 4/3 Tyler AMPS 269 +7 354 PMPS 362... ugh

Ok, Lantus pen #1 has been open just over a month and is near empty... today I noticed there are a few small air bubbles in there... so if air can really contaminate it, then that may be why we are seeing purple numbers, or he is just bouncing from that green the other day... I honestly don't get how air got in there, but I guess maybe I let the plunger slip and the vacuum of the pen pulled some in there. I don't know how long it has been in there either, I just noticed it today...

I have had my hands full the last 32 hours as I just found out that the company I work for is going out of business soon, and now I'm in a pickle! So yesterday's condo suffered a little from me having to figure something out! I am set to move to a new town in July, but now my plans to save cash, may have been thwarted... well you all, I am off to my second job, have nice evening..........................

I've had some bubbles in the pen before and it did not effect the potency of the insulin. Can't say that's the case for you. That's one scenario I always hate to wonder about. Sometimes it's the cat, sometimes it's the insulin. Since you're nearly empty, I'd be inclined to just start a new pen.

Hope you can find a new job solution soon. That's such a bother and so stressful. Always hoping for that lucky lotto ticket, right?

People have had their lantus last 6 months or more if it's taken care of properly and refrigerated. The air in the pen isn't a problem, it's if the lubricant inside the syringe gets into the Lantus. If it got contaminated that way, you might see cloudy insulin, floaters or threads. Did you watch the video on how to draw up doses? It's on the "taking care of your insulin" yellow starred sticky.

I think his high numbers have been from bouncing, not from anything wrong with the insulin. I'd just keep on as you are doing.

bummer on the job - that's sounds very life-disruptive!

Thanks, Julie & Tara

I will keep doing what I'm doing! He still weighed the same today as he did a few days ago. FYI: I am putting his weight and what he's eating in the notes field on his SS. I think I said that already but I'm so tired these last few days, I don't know what's going on!!! And yes, Miss Julie, I have seen the video a while back, probably wouldn't hurt to watch it again!

About the job, I knew it was coming. I think I may be good until my lease is up and I already have plans to transfer to a different school in a different town in July. So I think I'm good! Still is a little nerve wracking though!!!

Tara, Buster is beautiful! My cousin has a kitty named Buster, he's a handsome fella too! I come from a family who loves animals and work with a bunch of animal lovers... and let me tell you there is not one kitty that I can say I don't like... well that's a lie, one of my friends at work bought kitty calendars and put them up everywhere... by the time clock there is this one kitty... this little white kitty... he's a little jerk, I can tell. He thinks hes the cutest long haired white kitty on earth... well he is, he's so cute it makes me mad! You see, I'm a grown man, with a beard, mind you... but when I see little kitties like that, I want to pet all[/] the kitties, and that's just not very manly, nor is it right. I mean, I have had to hand in my "man card" several times already. It's probably about to be revoked... anyways, I'm exhausted! Time for beds.

Goodnight all you wonderful people, we've been here almost two weeks and the kitties are off the dry food stuffs all together and things are much better than they were before I came to this haven of helpers. So Tyler thanks you, I thank you, and Marla... well Marla don't care none, she's sleeping already (the lousy bum!).
