Simon is full of surprises. Yesterday, after being pretty definite that I gave Simon a fur shot, he posted some really nice green numbers in the PM. This morning, he is back up a little higher again. I did give Simon a little bit of extra food last night because I didn't want him dropping too much overnight. This might explain the higher number today. He is feeling and looking good this morning, all cuddly and sweet.

Simon has a new friend. Yesterday, I looked out my back door and almost had a heart attack because I thought Simon was outside unsupervised. It turns out Simon has an exact twin down to the white on his paws, texture of fur, and bigger tail. I have never seen this cat but apparently it lives in the neighborhood. I think all the cats around me know that I am a sucker for kitties. I didn't even feed this cat a treat and he is here again this morning! I am calling this new cat Simon's "mini-me"!

LOL Simon has a twin! My Miss Belle used to have a neighborhood twin, and when I saw her/him, it always freaked me out... I'd be so worried Miss Belle had gotten out! thankfully, Willie is one of a kind around these parts. :lol:

Simon!! You lucky kitty - you have a mini-me! Sweet! That is just too fun. I remember once years ago we had a very black, with very distinctive white markings cat. One night I came home and saw my kitty out on the deck - and thought omg, I left him out. So... scooped him up in my arms, was so apologetic, and went to take him down the hall to his bed. Imagine my surprise when he was already in bed. :lol: :lol: :lol: The one in my arms had the definite "fooled ya" look on his face. Twins! :lol: :lol:

Simon just didn't feel like hitting any greens today. Maybe it is a delayed reaction to the fur shot yesterday morning? Simon's mini-me is still outside by back door! He has not left at all today and continues to scratch on my patio door thinking I am going to feed him. The bad thing is that he has chased off Simon's girlfriend, Rosie. She is scared to visit because of Mini-Me. I called Mini-Me's owner (phone number was on collar) and he said that Kami (his real name) roams the neighborhood and is a bit of a moocher. Really, I hadn't noticed! Well, I am not going to feed him.

Violet, you asked how Simon reacts to the other cat that is identical to Simon except for some small markings. Simon just looks at him out the door but doesn't hiss or really do anything out of the ordinary. I think Cleo is freaked out by it because she probably sees that both Simon and Mini-me (I am going to call him that even though his name is Kami) look identical. I did notice that the other cat has fur like Simon used to have before he got on Lantus. Simon's fur is much silkier now.

Michelle, too funny about the story of you carrying in the wrong cat! It must have taken you a moment to react when you saw your own cat sitting on the bed. It would have taken me a moment to figure it out!

I have to go to a work conference in Savannah this week and I leave tomorrow morning and come back Wed. DH is in charge of Simon and I feel pretty comfortable about it. He is pretty good at testing and giving the shot, although I know he won't be able to come home for lunch and test. Hopefully, Simon will not give him any surprises or drama. I'll try and post his numbers on my blackberry because I won't have my laptop with me. At least going out of town may help me stop thinking about Simon's dental next Friday.

Have a safe and uneventful trip Georgia! Simon will be in good hands while you are gone. And it will get your mind of the dental.

Thats hilarious about MiniMe - maybe you should mention his fur to his owners. Do they know Simon looks almost identical to him? How did Simon come into your lives again? (Memory of a goldfish). Sorry if I've asked already.

Well, it is off to bed for me because I have to get up at 5:00 in order to be able to get to Savannah on time for my conference. I am a little disappointed that Simon didn't go green today, but tomorrow is another day.

Karrie, Simon came into our lives when he was about 2 months old. A neighbor of mine in our old neighborhood was having some work done on her house. One of the workers found Simon near his truck and picked him up but was going to just throw him away somewhere later in the day. My neighbor knew I loved cats and asked me to come over and look at him. Well, I fell in love instantly. Simon was such a beautiful and friendly kitten and my DH fell in love with him too. Funny story: The first week we had him, he crawled into my baby grand piano and got stuck behind the keys. The cover was over the keys and when we tried to open it to get to Simon, he cried because he was getting crushed. My DH ended up having to saw the cover off the piano keys to get Simon out. We were tempted to call him Elton for Elton John after the piano incident. It is amazing now how he ever fit into that small place.

Georgia--Long Beach is near Jones Beach, we are at the southern most part of Long Island-
Shelter Island is way out on the east end & very gorgeous!! About 1 1/2 hrs from here--So next time you go to see your family(we'll meet in between)

Moonie had a mini me so did Copper--We also got scared when we saw them, & went racing into the house to see if ours were there!! it is frightening, but most creatures have at least one mini me!! Ours never go out!

Hope your trip is good, flights on time & DH does a good job--Mine is just learning to do Moonie now-He hasnt shot her yet(EEEKKK!!!) But hope he will one day nailbite_smile

About the piano incident--Moonie as a kitten, climbed behind my Gigantic Amoire, and was screaming to get out--Another giant piece of furniture next to it!! OMG--I got superhuman strength & my 5'1" body climbed to the top of the amoire & pulled it over, so Moonie could be extracted!That was sheer will getting her out of there!! So i know what you mean about the piano--Safe travels & have a good time-Hugs from us!
