yesterday's post

Yesterday Radar was eating normally until dinner time when he refused to eat at all. I've given him Cerenia, Ondansetron and Mirtazapine and he still won't eat. I'm so worried. :nailbiting::nailbiting: I am the most worried about giving him insulin with only the little bit of baby food that he's licked off my finger this morning. The vet's office doesn't open until 8....

Have you been checking for urine ketones? Also, it looks like he needs a higher dose. I'll let the pros weigh in on that.

Hi Jan, I am a newbie so I cannot offer advice but I would just like to wish you well and I really hope everything is ok with Radar (cute name by the way :)).

Thank you all for the good wishes for our sweet little guy. It means so much to receive your kind words of encouragement when we're beside ourselves with worry. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Radar spent the day at the vet's office because we were unsuccessful in getting him to eat even one bite of anything this morning. We were just too scared to leave him all day by himself to hide and not eat and probably get worse. But we were also too scared to give him insulin and leave him alone to hide, not eat and go too low. :nailbiting:

They were able to get him to start eating again by offering some wet Hill's diabetic food. They also gave him subQ fluids. When they checked his urine, they discovered a UTI which the vet says could cause him to not feel good and not want to eat and just be lethargic in general. They gave him an antibiotic for the UTI. They did bloodwork and checked for pancreatitis and ketones. The vet says the bloodwork looks really good -liver, kidney and thyroid values are all good. He has no ketones and the pancreatitis test came back negative.

The specialty ultrasound Dr. was available today so we decided it was time to do an ultrasound and see what else we could learn about Radar's insides. The Dr found lymph nodes that were enlarged and we sent tissue samples away for analysis hoping to rule out lymphoma. We should know more in a few days when the results come back.

For now I'm happy to hug my purring kitty while we sit together waiting for dinner time.

So very glad that he was seen and that they got him to eat and preform some important test. Good news in all they ruled out and sending vines that the tissue biopsy comes back good.

Hug Jan! :bighug:

ETA: Glad that they caught the UTI!

Sending vines that it's just a UTI and he is feeling better and eating better soon, and the tissue samples come back negative.
