Morning ~O) sorry I missed some of you when I checked out early last evening, Ella, Roni, Serryn and Maggie's sweetheart, Vyktor. I get up too early and then in the evening fall asleep watching TV. Thanks for all of your good thoughts about her high b/p hopefully being caused by the Vetty visit. Missy Mags let me sleep thru the night and I even heard the alarm before her. I think she ate some overnight fuds right before the two hour no food slot, but still a very good AMPS. We had a good shot, breffifs, play time with her mouse pole toy and now she's on my lap as I type, headbutting my arm. :-D This can be a good excuse for my typos - my cat did it, not me :-D !
Sending healing vines and good thoughts for BigMac & CD and so thankful little Herbie was found yesterday.

Re: 4/3 Maggie AMPS 151 ATrak

Maybe Mags wants to say something in her condo and is trying to type it herself? I missed a vetty visit? I hope it was just a routine planned visit for Maggie and she was her usual perfect angel self at the vet.

Very nice AMPS for Maggie and keep up the good work girl. ;-)

I hope you ladies have a great day!

Re: 4/3 Maggie AMPS 151; +3 94 ATrak

Morning Ann - what a nice way to start the day - head butts and a let-me-help-you-with-my-condo kitty. Good job Maggie. :-D Very nice BG's today too Maggie - I like that +3!

Hope you get good lab results for Miss Maggie. We can hope that the higher BP is a one visit thing, maybe just a bit more stressed than she let on. We shall hope for a great reading when she is rechecked.

Enjoy your day today!

Re: 4/3 Maggie AMPS 151; +3 94 ATrak

Look at that green already today!!   That's what we like to see Maggie! Glad you got some rest. You do get up early. I thought 5 am was bad. Ugh. Hope you have a great great day Ann!

Re: 4/3 Maggie AMPS 151; +3 94 ATrak

Hi Ann & Maggie,
Look at that green already! Maggie, have you plans for the day?? Looks like you are practicing your typing skills!

Enjoy the day, Ann, and hopefully you'll get in a nice walk.

see you later,

Ella & Rusty

p.s. Did you see Angela's condo about the Fancy Feast classic varieties? It looks like they have changed the ingredients in T&G. There isn't any turkey in it!! And the rest of the ingredients are different, too. Janet & Binky's list says that companies are legally allowed to keep their old can labels for 6 months after they change a food formula. This is all very disturbing!

Re: 4/3 Maggie AMPS 151; +3 94 ATrak

Hi Ann- I was just catching up a bit on Maggie's vetty visit and possible high BP. Hopefully it's just vetty stress. We went through this last year with Mario; what Marje said was interesting about them not worrying about it unless it's over 200. I have to say, that takes a huge load of MY mind! Mario has never registered higher than 180, yet our vet put him on amlodapine last spring. He takes it twice a day, and his BP is well-regulated, but we do have to go back every couple months to make sure his needs haven't changed (which they have a few times). IF Maggie needs to go on BP meds, it is a super duper teeny tiny little pill, so it's not hard to admininster at all. Mario, however, has decided he's sick and tired of pill pockets, so every day I have to come up with a new trick to convince him to take it! (The past few times, I've been rapid-firing treats at him, and tossing the PP in in between. He's on such a roll with munching the treats, he doesn't notice the PP!) Because I've been having such a hard time with him and pills lately, I did call Drs Foster and Smith, which is where I have other meds compounded, and found out that they can do the BP meds as a transdermal gel. They can also do other formulations for the BP meds ,as well, so, if it comes down to it, you've got lots of options to make it easier for both you and Mags.

You're lucky you get to be in the room while they check her BP! My vet takes Mario to the back. Just curious...how much does your vet charge for a BP check? My vet is $65, just for the BP alone!!! It always shocks me, but what can I do???

Maggie is lookin' lovely today!!! Have a great one!

Re: 4/3 Maggie AMPS 151; +3 94 ATrak

Hi Amy, thanks on the info of b/p meds just in case Mags should need them. I'm glad it's a tiny pill. I didn't realize our sweetie Mario has high b/p, or if it was mentioned, I forgot. I just looked at Maggie's bill which I will be Faxing to VPI hopefully for some reimbursement. They charged me $35 for the B/P Measurement, almost half of what you paid which surprises me with SD being so expensive. The b/w charge is $123, and the exam cost $53.00. I forgot to ask for a pedicure which used to be free, but now there is a fee. That's nice to know about the transdermal gel thru Dr. Foster. Do you get Mario's meds thru them rather than Vetty? Is it much cheaper? I know I sure save on strips thru ADW.

Re: 4/3 Maggie AMPS 151; +3 94 ATrak

I get most of Mario's meds through Foster's and Smith. I use a transdermal gel for his Tapazole, and F&S is definitely the cheapest place for that. I get his Adequan there, as well...also the cheapest. And, he's on a funky dose for his BP meds; one concentration in the morning, a different at night. The night dosage is so tiny, that I would have to split the human pill into 8ths, which is impossible, so I also have that one compounded by F&S. Their pharmacy seems to have the most compounding options, at least that I've found so far.

When Mario goes in for his BP checks, the actual check is $65, PLUS they charge me $29 for a mini office visit! When Trix had her dental, they charged me $70 for checking her BG twice...that's $35 for each little ear pokie! On the flip side, they are very current and very thorough, so it's a trade off....

Hi guys .. oh maggie .. look at you in green! I also hope maggie doesn't need to go on meds, but if she does, at least they are tiny pills, and hopefully could use gels instead .. have a great day guys!

Re: 4/3 Maggie AMPS 151; +3 94 ATrak

Hi Amy, thanks again for all the info and on Fosters and Smith. They used to send me their catalogue. I will remember to order from them should she need b/p meds and the compounding pharmacy is great. Yes, thank goodness for thorough Vets. That's not bad at all for the whole fee being $65.00 including a mini exam. It sounds like we both have thorough Vets.

Hey Devon, thanks for stopping by and yes it's good to know they're tiny pills. give Mocha some hugs from us.

Re: 4/3 Maggie AMPS 151; +3 94 ATrak

Way to hit the greens, Maggie! I can't believe you ran away for 10 days when you were first adopted. Your bean must have been worried sick about you. I'm so glad you got found.

Maggie was helping with her condo just to make sure that you mentioned Vyktor  He is still trying to recover himself from seeing her beautiful pics yesterday, I think his blood pressure is still up too

Oh no...the BP check is $65. The $29 mini exam is an additonal fee on top of that! I really wish I could check is BP at home...

Re: 4/3 Maggie AMPS 151; +3 94; +5 112 ATrak

+5 112

Thanks everyone for the visits and good thoughts. Maggie was sleeping so soundly, but I thought I'd better check as I missed the +4. Looks like a blue surf.

Thanks Amy on the b/p and exam. It's interesting how the fees vary Vet to Vet and different regions. Thank goodness for VPI insurance, althought my allotment for diabets gets used up pretty fast! I can only upgrade as allowable for her age.

Very interesting discussion with Dr. Lisa and the b/g machines for kitties. Thanks Liz.

Celi, yes, I guess with her still being a little wild, she was so afraid of everyone. Different neighbors had sightings of her, but no one could get her to come close.

Here's another vote for believing that it was vetty stress. Did you get her blood work today? Paws crossed that the diet adjustments are helping.

Really cute pix of maggie, I had no idea her stripe were so bright, she looks lie a kitten there! cat_pet_icon

@-) @-) Did I miss something about Maggie running away? I reread every thing and still couldn't find it.

A green! We can join everyone in the Green Lagoon.

Hi Ann, thanks on the pic; she does look little there, but she's actually 9.75 lb, a little on the fluffy side! That was about 12 years ago when Maggie following her big bro out the door, and Mags got spooked and took off so fast. I posted about it in Herbie's ran away condo. I had to actually borrow a cage with a door that would lock once kitty set foot in it. I was telling Christie about just in case that might work for Herbie. The first time my neighbor's kitty got caught in it and screamed bloody murder waking up everyone. Mags came home after 10 days and it was the 10th day and only day I used the cage. she was in the neighborhood the whole time, just scared to come out of hiding. She was a feral for a year before she adopted me, so her defenses were up.

On the bw. I'll post tomorrow. Vet E-mailed it to me, and it's on an attachment on PDF Adobe Reader, and I'm not sure how to link it. Tomorrow I'll post her creatinine, kidney and phosphorus values and compare from three months ago. I missed the Vet's call, but he left a short message saying everything looked good but that her kidney values were slightly up. When she has the b/p check in three weeks, he'll determine when she needs more b/w.
