Jack does so well on Levemir and he is back to himself. He is gentleman and a greeter. He lets all the other cats eat before him and he greets everyone at the door. In fact if he doesn't greet them folks ask where is Jack? All the P's are perfect.
Yesterday I didn't post because the news about Scooter was not good and it was hard to make decisions. The cytology came back and was consistent with inflammation and adenocarcinoma. My vet is very concerned about his poor response to therapy and his worsening condition. We had a few options 1. take him to a internal specialist at the U for an ultrasound and most likely enucleation of the eye. 2. have my vet do the enucleation and explore the region 3. euthanasia. So after talking with my family and then my Vet we all decided that Scooter is happy and cuddly and a little old and fragile for more surgery. We are going to continue with the bupe and keep him comfortable until he decides to go. This is a hard decision but I think the right one.
I hope everyone and there kitties are perfect today!
So sorry to hear about Scooter, it is never an easy decision to make not matter which way you go. Hopefully you can keep him comfortable while he is still with you.
I'm sorry the news isn't better for Scooter. You're doing the best you can for him by keeping him feeling good. I know it's not easy. Just take it one day at a time and make the most of each day.
Great news on Jack....Hope he continues to do so well!!
As sad as the news is on Scooter, I think you're doing the right thing too. It's not always the best thing to go to heroic measures. Keep him comfortable, love on him, spoil him and let him tell you when it's time.
I'm so sorry to hear this about Scooter but now you at least know a little more and you've been able to make an informed decision. Sending many prayers for him....and for your family.
Jack is looking great! Glad to hear he is feeling well.
I know what a difficult decision this has been for you, but I agree with the others that you have made the right call for Scooter. It's so hard not to say "let's do everything to fight this", but you have to weigh all the factors, most important being QOL, and it sounds like you have. I hope you are able to keep him comfortable and happy for many more weeks of love and cuddles. I'll keep you in my prayers.
As for Mr. Jack, what a good boy!!!! You looks so handsome in your green suit, and you are giving your mama something to smile about when she really needs it! Keep up the good work!
I'm so sorry. Adenocarcinoma is a tough one to treat with a not so great prognosis even if treated so I too think you are making the right decision, as hard as it is. It's an act of love.
So sorry to hear about dear Scooter. As hard as it is, you are making the right decision out of love. Make the most of your time together filled with love and cuddles. Sending hugs and prayers
Sending extra loves to Scooter and your family at this difficult time. Sometimes it is best not to put them through a whole pile of stressful treatments but to let them live out their life in peace. You have my utmost respect for making such a brave, informed and loving decision for your Scooter
You have made the choice to let Scooter do things in his own time and his own way. Sometimes to put our furkids through all that extra stress is not the in their best interests. If my Tuxie had to be hospitalized for several weeks for any reason, unless the outcome was 100% guaranteed (which nothing ever is) I would have to stop and make a similar decision. He is such a high stress kitty and the stress could be far worse than the "cure".
You know your Scooter and whatever choices you make they are obviously made with his best interests at heart, (((HUGS))) and prayers for a good quality for a long time. Tuxie and Maxie send love and head butts.
((((Linda)))), You are making the very best and most loving decision for Scooter, and I'm sure that it is the one he would make for himself. Quality of Life and a peaceful passing are what we all hope for ourselves and for our dear animal companions. What a brave old man Scooter is! Please give him some scritches for us.
I agree with everyone else - i respect your decision and would've chosen the same. It's the hardest thing we ever have to do, but sometimes the alternatives are pretty awful. Sending big hugs to you and an extra dose of love for Scooter. He's so special.
Oh Jack, you must be a day-brightener! I'd love to be greeted by a gracious door greeter named Jack! His BGs are looking great too. Love all that green & blue!
