DC didn't have a very good day. He was still vomiting (clear mucus) and not eating this morning.
He won't even eat his favorite HC or MC foods not even the gravy. I even tried to give him boiled chicken and he wouldn't touch that either or baby food.
He wouldn't even touch the dry EVO that I have in the basement. I tried to give him 1 piece just to see if he would eat it and nothing.
I tried to syringe feed him last night and he would not have any part of it.
He was wailing like he was being murdered and then he bolted dragging his back legs and howling.
He was very traumatized by the whole thing.
I also started giving him 1/4 pepcid with his PM shot last night and again with his AM shot today.
I took him to the vet @ AM +4.
They did the fPLI & T4 bloodwork. I'll get the T4 result tomorrow and the fPLI next week on Monday.
She said he doesn't seem to be in pain and everything else is good. He is not dehydrated and has no temperature.
He finally ate at the vet. Only some Medi-Cal dry treats, but at this point I don't care what he eats as long as it's something.
The vet gave 20cc of fluid SubQ so she could send me home with some in case DC got dehydrated or stopped drinking.
I've never used it before so had no idea what to do. She showed me everything with it.
She also sent me home with some Medi-Cal Recovery food. I don't know the carbs on it. I do know it's made by Royal Canin.
She said she wouldn't want me to use it as a regular food, but most cats will eat it even when they don't feel well and at this point it's better for him to eat something.
It's a high calorie food and DC has lost 1.3 lbs in 2 weeks.
I gave him some when we got home and he actually ate about an 1/8 can. So far he has kept it down.
I'm guessing at this point it's better for him to eat anything rather than nothing.

I hope you get some answers soon, what a worry. Not that it matters in this situation but I think the Medi-Cal is ok carb wise. I'm pretty sure that's what Lydia was giving Sid when he lost weight and wasn't eating and I remember some discussion about it.

Did the vet give you anything for the vomiting (e.g., ondansatron or Cerenia)? Right now, the carbs don't matter. Eating trumps everything else. Has the vet considered an x-ray or ultrasound?

She wanted to wait until the bloodwork came back. She just said to give him 1/4 pepcid BID.
So far there has been no vomit for 22 hours now. Although he didn't eat much. I did syringe feed him 5 cc of the Medi-Cal Recovery before bed because he wouldn't eat.
He did eat about a 1/4 can on his own earlier in the day.
To be totally honest, I haven't got the money for an ultrasound right now.
Both DH and i are on disability and there isn't another penny to spare. I had to borrow money from friends and family for the last few vet bills.
The vet only charged me 1/2 price yesterday and gave me 2 weeks to pay this bill.

I spoke to soon on that. He made 22 1/2 hours and then we had vomit. Still clear liquid.

Remember to give the Pepsid about 30 min. before DC eats.

It sounds like maybe DC has an acid stomach if he's puking up liquid. If he'll snack on small amounts throughout the day, that may help. Have you tried baby food?

He won't eat baby food. I've tried both chicken and beef and he won't touch either.
I do give the pepcid 30 min before food.

I'm sorry to hear that DC is not feeling well. It is so upsetting when they don't eat. And that weight loss is scary too.
Come on DC, eat some good food. I hope the Pepcid makes a difference and his appetite returns very soon.

(((Hugs to you Noreen.)))
