Hey guys! I could use some ~O) ~O) @-) again. I'm happy for a mid blue. Thanks for all the visits last night, Michelle, Tricia, Tara, Deborah, Amy, and Wendy. :-D

Yesterday: Chyna 4-2

Chyna seems happy again today, although not enthusiastic about breffis. I think I added too much stuff and she hates her vitamins in fuds but she doesn't want pill pockets at the moment and she needs her vitamins. SO she ate about a third and I just spoon fed another third. She's washing her face now :cool: . All her other Ps are in place.

I checked on raw fuds at the two stores that carry them. They have Natures Variety, Carnivora, Pets go Raw, and Red Dog Blue Kat. Does anyone use or already have phos/carb numbers for the Carnivora or Pets Go Raw so I don't have to try contact them? They both have rabbit. I see that Carnivora has values posted but I'm not sure I am terrible at figuring this stuff out! Wendy, the Red Dog Blue Kat you use is stocked in one store and just has turkey and chicken but can special order so I may do that too, to try the kangaroo and/or venison if it doesn't cost an arm and a leg :o . I have to wait till payday...and figured I'd ask since I know Chyna likes rabbit :-D

I don't want to go to tbp...another short person week as one girl is on vacation again so we get to do her job...that and plus the jerk. I hope it stays slower! My bed looks really tempting, too bad my pocketbook says otherwise :lol: . Well, have a good day, LL! With luck I can visit some condos :razz:

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you with regards to the food that you want to try out as I only feed Evo 95% Chicken & Turkey. Hoping that Chyna gives you a nice, lovely surf today. Be safe, and I hope that your day at tbp turns out to be a good one. Look on the bright side... It's pre-Friday! :-D

I have no answers on the raw food either. I have tried all of NV raw, and everyone likes it, except Cleo. Good luck with finding one she likes and has the good phos/carb numbers. Cleo is also very fussy if I add to much to her food - there is a fine line between just right and too much. :lol:
Hope your day at tBp goes better than expected. Once in a great while that happens :lol:

I think you'll need to contact the manufacturer regarding the phosphorus value in the food.

I do like a nice solid mid blue cycle. :-D Well done Chyna. Too bad we can't get all meat babyfood here, I've seen people add medicine to that as a "treat" and separate from the main fuds.

I took a look at the Carnivora website, and although they list numbers, they don't say if they are As-fed or Guaranteed Analysis. I second Sienne that you'll have to contact the manufacturer. That's how I got the Red Dog/Blue Kat numbers (BTW: their venison is more expensive than kangaroo). One concern I have about Carnivora is that they don't have a separate cat product. Most manufacturers have separate products for cats vs. dogs, because dogs are omnivores and need more vegetables in their diet which means higher carbs. The other worrying thing is that their rabbit product said it's a good source of phosphorus - which might mean it's too high. Often raw rabbit is higher in phosphorus.

Very nice flatness from Chyna today, and I'm so glad she's feeling better even if she wasn't super-duper psyched about breffis. It really sounds like she's on the mend. I hope you have some good luck with finding out the values for the raw, and more importantly that they are fuds that Chyna likes and can eat!!

what nice blues for Chyna today. We use Nature's Variety. Their rabbit is too high in phos, but the chicken/turkey, beef, lamb and venison are all good.

OK, I spent the day going over that SS Wild Callings sent you. A couple of lines make no sense and some info is missing. I am assuming the Line 10 "Calories" is per kilo, but they don't say and I'm not sure why Line 15 differs form it other than rounding off errors in the calculations. And for some reason they didn't include Turkey!?? Which is one of the flavors available at my local store, but they don't carry Salmon or Rabbit so I couldn't look up the calories per can listed there. Three of the varieties had exactly the same calories per can on the labels but they don't match up w/ the info on the SS. Also, I have no idea what the calories in row 19 of the DMB sheet he sent mean!

I reworked the SS and put it on Google Docs. The bright yellow rows are what you are looking for (rows 24 and 30.) I also included the explanation of how we calculated the mg Phos/100kcal.

The bottom line is that all are LC, Buffalo being the highest at 7.8% carbs and all but the Buffalo (and that isn't bad w/ 106.5 mg Phos /100 kcal) are lower in phos than Hill Prescription KD!!! They do seem kind of high in fat though.

Hello, everyone! I'm sorry I've been MIA again today, work was steady and they dropped a bomb on us...our hours are cut AGAIN to "save money" :evil: . One day a week lost and then on top of that one day every four weeks. The one day a week they say is "temporary" for spring break up while we are slower (that is usually spent trying to catch up on the backlog of stuff piled everywhere that we can't do in winter), till June. I doubt that. I live in an oilfield town that is begging for workers to work millions of hours, but my company was too busy buying buildings all over Canada and giving clients big cheap deals. So the staff now pays. I imagine I will be spending a lot of time job hunting now, as this is effective as of this weekend. Unfortunately, the job needs to be a certain wage and hours...or I can't pay my bills. And the ones begging for workers either pay too low, or I don't have the qualifications...or it's trades/oilfield out of town etc. UGH. Sorry Chyna, I know this condo is yours...so that was my day :cry: . At least Chyna is looking and acting beautiful!

I tried the NV raw Lamb, and she liked it, but she did go up last time we tried it (and that could have been anything causing it) I was hoping for another protein as that is what she eats now (lamb) and I worry she will develop an allergy to it too :o . It's nice to have options:)

Well, I'd better go do my +2 on Chyna. I'll try to visit you all, but if I don't I am thinking of you and sending blue and green vines to your kitties :-D

I know this is a family site so pardon me for just one second...that absolutely sucks about your job. Sending tons of "find a new GOOD job" vines your way.

What a relief that Chyna is feeling good!

I don't know if Trix would eat raw. I have to admit, I have a hard time with the idea, as DH and I are vegan. I can open a can of food...not sure if I can handle the idea of raw, though. I suppose if our hands were really tied I would do anything for our girl...fortunately, we're not in that tight of a situation, though.

Sorry, I thought I had the SS set for "Anyone w/ the link can view" I must not have saved that properly. It's fixed now though.

Commercial raw really isn't much different than canned in appearance. If you don't think too much about it the only difference is to not leave it out too long and be sure to wash your hands after handling.

Thanks Amy, I can't even tell you the words I am thinking about my work, or write them on here, but I think you can guess! :shock: :lol: . Thanks for the vines. I'll need them! I hate job hunting, I haven't done it in 7 years...other than a little here or there. I don't really like the thought of raw either, but I'm not vegan! They are so good for Chyna with the levels and different proteins I feel I have to try. At least for the meals I am home. :-D

Ann, thanks again so much for your work on that chart! It looks awesome and I hope the numbers the VP sent me were right, cause I'm going to try them out! Do you still want the email/info?

Subqs just went surprisingly good. Just one angry meow when we were done, and I THINK I heard purring :o :-D

No problem, I was wondering about WC too. I'm glad you took the initiative and contacted them. I wonder if the VP would respond to me if i wrote and asked him some of the questions we have about the SS. And if he has the info on the turkey.

Good luck on the job front. I think I'm glad I'm an old fart that's retired! :lol: :lol: I always hated job hunting too and I worked freelance so every job was a new interview!

Just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you and Chyna today. Glad to see she seems to be on the mend. OMG, you go through so much to find fuds for her! I thought I was working hard at it, but you have me beat. I came home with a dozen or so little cans from various pet stores yesterday, hoping to find some everyone would eat. So far the Nature's Variety Instinct Pork is a winner for everyone except Harvey (the kitty that prompted this search! ). Typical.

Bummer about tbp. Sending good job hunting vines so you can find a tgp soon! Also sending good appy vines to Chyna. Hope you are not having a PJ party tonight!

Sasha sends her best. As I am typing this, she is sitting next to the keyboard and keeps putting her little face in front of the screen to read what I have written. She must approve, because she just started purring! :lol:
