Good Morning Lantus Land! ~O) ~O) ~O)

Yesterday's Condo: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=40299

Ohh...listen to that Robin singing so early today at the window!

Attie enjoyed all the KTSS he received last night! He was quite chill-laxed and slept most of the night away. Disturbing his bean just once for one more Rabbit Sundae.

Thanks for the KTSS guys! ~~Attie

MudCat on the other hand had the kitty crazies last night and was at the race track until the wee hours. I finally had to get up and take the ball out of the track.

Gary continues in the foster room ...his vampire trip is Wednesday. The last few times I've used a towel to catch him and put him in the carrier. Yesterday as I folded towels he ran and hid under the bed. :? Need a plan B!

It is Pet First Aid Awareness Month!

And this article got me thinking about all of us here on FD...
Five Tips That Will Save Your Cat’s Life in a Disaster

Five simple basics, but as FD caregivers ...what else should be in our feline's To-Go-Bag?

I thought a collapsible/kennel of some sort. They can't stay in the carrier for days. They need to be able to move around a bit and access to a litterbox. You can find many different styles and in a freaked out furbaby keep in mind their need for privacy. Leaving them in a hot car, just is not an answer. I found some very cool pop-up tents to sturdy portable metal playpens. Blankets and towels can be used to create that "shelter" from the ER shelter chaos.

What about insulin and those meters and test strips...

Re: 4/3 Atlas AMPS 212

Great post, Beth! I keep most of Willie's supplies in a duffle bag... perhaps I need to add a few things! I have a popup kennel I use when traveling... it zips shut & there is room in it for a cat bed and a small litter box.

Hope the KTSS krew weren't playin the ponies so to speak while mudcat ran the track!

Great you already have a duffle bag!!! What's in the bag and when was the last time you checked expiration dates?

Re: 4/3 Atlas AMPS 212

Right now, the duffle has backup meters, a book w/copies of all Willie's vet records & the LL stickies (with info to the regular & emergency vets on the cover), extra syringes, lancets and strips, our HC food and karo (Don't want DS coming over one day & giving him HC by mistake! Also, if he goes low I always know where HC and karo are at!), and any occasional meds in there. there is also an insulin carrier for which the corresponsing ice pack is always in the fridge.

Suppose I should add some LC food as well.

The rest of Willie's supplies & current meds (other than insulin) are in a small basket by my bed that can easily and quickly go in the duffle if needed. Maybe I should keep the pop-up kennel in there as well.

great discussion to start!

Yep. all are 2012. :) Fuds are all 2013. For our regular meter, I keep the strips organized by exp. date!

  ;-) ;-) better organized than me!

Laundry just finishing up. Need to do my coats.

Gary has had his master bedroom and den tour. What a noisy event that was!

Attie...he slept through the whole event. I guess after two hours at the vet yesterday...he's pretty zoned out...

...you know....a cat nap doesn't sound too bad right about now. I don't have anywhere to be for about 3 hours...

Re: 4/3 Atlas AMPS 212, +3 228, +7 166

Hi Beth....nice blue for Attie today. I think he's so tired because he was pretty wild at the pool party yesterday.

Glad to hear the boys are doing well and Gary is venturing out occasionally. Hope you get your nappus in today. Thanks for the info on the pet emergency kit; we have one too....a big blue container full of stuff!! Have a great day.

Just read your yesterday's condo. Thanks for the emergency tips. I have stuff assembled, but not all in one place!! Great news about the new vet. My vet just gave me the prescription for Canada, too. But instead of asking them to fax it, I sent it in because I wanted to check it over first. I've had good luck with ordering insulin from Canada.
Rusty wants you to know that the Rabbit sundaes were a great hit!

Have a good evening,

Ok back home and testing...

I had one more sit this evening. Little toy poodle across the river...literally across the river. He needed just a 15 minute evening potty break.

I see Attie came up quite a bit. Hope that isn't a bounce response and is due more to the dollop of karo I dropped on his rawbits!

We'll see in about a half hour from now.

Big, bad weather tonight lots of high winds and thunderstorms predicted. Attie hates storms... The wind is already kicking up and the clouds looked ominous in the sunset. Part of the reason I wanted to get Mr. Poodle done too.

This new vet was all understanding about using Canada....she is ordering chemotherapy drugs for her dog through a Canadian pharmacy. I haven't seen a shipment confirmation yet, but if she sent it after hours I might not get one until tomorrow.

what a great pm cycle!

and a great informational post, beth!
