Yum broke 100 on the alphatrak! A green! Tears in my eyes.
Now I have to think through what to do in 3 hours. Yesterday her curve flattened out from +9 through +12 then dove briefly from PMPS to PMPS+3.
What if?
a. She falls to or below 68 by AMPS+12. Unlikely. If that happens I would do what?
b. She stays above 80 by AMPS+12. Likely. If that happens I would shoot her with 4.25u and test at PMSP+2 and +3.
c. She falls between 68 and 80. I would do what?
I will go read the instruction book again but direct suggestions are also appreciated.

Woohoo! Love that green. Finally. :D

If she falls below 68, you feed carbs to bring her up. Look at the Handling and Shooting Low Numbers sticky note for how to do that. I would test again in an hour, but it looks like she is not falling fast. Also, if she is below 68, then she errand a recuction to 4.0 units.

Experienced people will shoot anything above 68 on an AT if they can monitor. A lot can change from now to PMPS, hard to say where she will be. If she is lower than you feel comfortable shooting, you can stall, without feeding, and wait 20-30 minutes to see if her numbers will come up to a range you are OK shooting.

The fact that she is growing low this late in the cycle is why we stress you should get an AMPS number every time. What is she was below 68 and you blindly gave insulin?

Her previous new lows have all been at PMPS +3 or +4.
If I shoot a PMPS 68, there's a good chance she would go below 68 in that interval.
Of course, that's not completely undesirable. Right?
I would have to be ready to respond with Karo syrup or honey or maybe some HC gravy on the FF LC.
Or maybe Karo syrup on sardines. Since she free feeds, I don't have data on her food bumps. She ate a bit an hour before the 98.
She doesn't eat very much in one go, so her LC food bumps are probably small.

The AMPS number is a big problem. She won't let me touch her in the morning. She turns into the feral cat she once was. I could chase her down or I could grab her when I feed and shoot her---once--but then the following morning I might not be able to feed and shoot her. Her behavior has been very strange at AMPS. She is very stressed. She finally relaxes and comes to me about an hour after breakfast. The rest of the day, if I reach out to her, she walks herself to our test spot!!! She has been sleeping downstairs by herself. I could try bringing her upstairs to sleep with me, but she might not stay. I could try sleeping downstairs with her. I just don't understand her AMPS behavior. I'm wondering if it is tied to her relative high numbers at that time. We were doing okay AMPS and then poof it was over.

Can you catch her in the morning and put her in a smaller room like a bathroom? Then test, feed, shoot there. Feral cats can be calmer in smaller spaces.
