I am wondering if he will bounce now, or drop again. I might have to give this dose a little longer to see how its working. he was really excited last night - lying on the floor waving his paws around and looking psycho. I was brushing my teeth or would have taped it for you.

I have that on my to do list as I would like to see what you think of his weird walking - the vet says neuropathy but i have thought for a while now that it's a mechanical issue such as hip dysplasia as it really doesn't look like neuropathy I have seen. Really he has been a clumsy cat since we got him - falling off things etc - which is odd for a cat I thought. He even fell down the stairs one time when he was young which probably didn't help. We haven't had X-rays done yet - financial reasons more than anything, and because we can't afford a $20k hip replacement if it is dysplasia. Not sure what else it could be...

Wendy, One of our kitty started walking funny, like a drunk, losing her balance, then falling off/back for chairs and other furniture. It was years, years ago. The vet said that is nerve related issue and she got medication. Symptoms came back after a year again and she got meds again. Nothing since that and it was least 5-6 years ago.

Wendy, I have to go back and check in her file. As I said it was least 5-6 years ago and since that we had several kitties with different illnesses and medication. Honestly I don’t remember, but I will get back to you on this.
(Also I have a hard time with the message board to connect and post -this is the third day- just a thought )

I've also been having (yet more) trouble with the message board.

Get a video sometime of the weird walk and/or psycho cuteness and we'll analyze. :thumbup

Hey Tiggy what's up with the numbers?

Yep I have been having issues all day. Here are video links! I sent them to the vet today too.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/14315691@N00/14051322196- as he walks towards the camera you can see his hips wobble towards camera left. that happens a lot - and he stumbles on the way back.

- https://www.flickr.com/photos/14315691@N00/14074431595/ - he gets worse when he runs - he loses his balance a little here. Frequently he will even fall over

- https://www.flickr.com/photos/14315691@N00/13887818359/ - stumbles again

- https://www.flickr.com/photos/14315691@N00/13887777827/ - this is his usual routine for sitting down on me. He droops over me but seems to struggle to sit down - he stands on his back paws and wobbles (sorry its dark/grainy) and then kinda drops down. Its like he is stiff in his hips.

Numbers are my bad, I didn't test as much and insulin resistance set in when he should have had dose changes.

That is kind of a "limp" or something. But it doesn't appear to slow him down much. Probably not typical neuropathy. Maybe the vet might have some ideas.

I wonder if he could stand to lose a little weight. Or perhaps shed some fluff. Wow his fur is SO thick right now!

He has the cutest little squeak of a voice!

Mine didn't notice him on screen before that "mew" and then they couldn't stop watching. @-)

He is a big furry boy, probably a little weight loss wouldn't do any harm but I find when sick they lose weight so fast and it's hard to get it back on , so I like a little extra padding. His weight is a stable 15.8lbs right now, he was 17lb back last summer before the poop problems and this is better on him.

He does have a girly mew ;) but don't tell him!

I was wondering about low potassium or something too but it seems more like a mechanical issue .. Doesn't it?

16 pounds is probably about perfect for Tiggy.

When I took Chip off Fancy Feast, he lost his pot belly (and beer belly) and his coat also improved. He still gets occasional FF now but mostly Merrick Purrfect Bistro Pate and some Friskies Special Diet for low numbers. I suspect shaping up has helped his numbers or vise versa?

They probably really should be eating a meat diet or raw. As long as Tiggy is active and healthy hopefully the clumsiness is not much of an issue.
