Yesterday’s Condo for Oliver

OK I think it's time to get Oliver tested for some reason for his resistance. Time for the IGF-1 and IAA tests.
Even with NDW yesterday, he moved down only 15, from 391 to 376, then headed up again, and that was on 8uLev and 2.5R.

This morning his amps was 421 so he got c2 at 8uLev and 2.75R. Since I am going to work, I won't be around to test or I would try a larger amount of R, just to see if I am able to pull him down at all. Tonite, I'll try maybe 3 or more R to get an idea of what he will recognize.
Thoughts anyone?

Oliver is pretty big so I would add in a picture of Oliver reaching up for some snackies on the tree. His numbers maybe be high, but he's acting quite fine and becoming more and more relaxed here.

Re: 3/29 Oliver amps 421

Good morning,Gayle!
Sorry that You have to go through the same thing again, but Oliver is cute lil man or a BIG man!
Wish You a nice day at BP!

Re: 4/29 Oliver amps 421

Thanks Bo,
It's a shame that we need to test Oliver but the good thing is that both me and the vet office know exactly what needs to be done and when! That's a BIG advantage, to be sure! It's at the point where these tests are really not much different than any other blood draw for this or that test. I will be so relieved to get the ball rolling.

I hope you have a great day too, and big pats and scratches for Jake from me!

Re: 4/29 Oliver amps 421

 at Oliver's picture, Gayle. He certainly is a very handsome kitty. I love his markings. And he really is a nice size, isn't he ;-)

Yes, I agree that you need to get those tests done. His numbers are just to high consistently, and it doesn't look like the R is really helping. I can just imagine how frustrated this must be to you.

Good Luck!

Re: 4/29 Oliver amps 421

((((Gayle and Oliver)))) So unfair that you have another kitty with resistance. But you handled Shadoe's resistance like a pro! You've already trained your vets to do what you want so at least you don't have to go through that again. It's great to hear that Oliver is settling in nicely. You were so good to give him a home. He's a lucky kitty. And extremely good looking, too!

Re: 4/29 Oliver amps 421

Kelly,
I have half a mind to mention that I should get some cut rate pricing for all the training and experience that they are gaining from me and my crew, especially since I had to do all the legwork and researching for them just to get the tests done for Shadoe!

Yeah, I am going to mention it, just in passing, and see what kind of reaction I get.

On a serious note, I should ask them of the other FD kitties they may have.

Deb,
It is not NEAR as frustrating as the first kick at the can; with Shadoe, I so stressed and lost and worried, but with Oliver, I am recognizing some similarities, and don't feel so bad.
With the pitiful reaction to R, I know there is something going on here. At the very least, a shot of 2.5R should get some kind of movement!

Soon enough, we will get closer to answers.

Re: 4/29 Oliver amps 421

As you wait for your answers you can enjoy that big, beautiful, happy cat! He is really something else, and I'm sure you'll be able to find out why he seems to be insulin resistant. Good luck with the vet!

Ella

Re: 4/29 Oliver amps 421

Gayle,

I guess we're unanimous here. It looks like it's about that time. Look, so worse comes to worse at least Oliver is a happy boy and he's with a Mom that loves and knows how to take care of him. He was obviously MEANT to be with you, KWIM?

At least you'll KNOW, and what's the big deal..I think you have an idea in your heart already ♥

IAA, Acro or plain old cat, he's still your handsome Oliver

Re: 4/29 Oliver amps 421

He sure is a big guy :)..

Best to do the tests just to know either way.. the guessing game.. all the time wondering.. is time you could better spend scratching and petting that big guy ;). That's why I tried so hard to find a type 1 vs type 2 test for Nova.. it's not that knowing would change how I treat her all much.. it's that I'd rather spend the time I currently spend trying to figure that out.. and the energy wasted on the emotional "maybe she is" "maybe she isn't" roller-coaster.. I'd rather spend that energy on her.

Re: 4/29 Oliver amps 421

That picture is too much. Oliver is the size of a child, wearing a cat costume. :-D
Fate would have it that we were speaking that day and Oliver came to you.
Who better than to be his Mama.
Knowing what you know from Shadoe now I also agree with getting those tests done.
I hope the vet office is ready for you again Gayle!!! You rock. :-D

Re: 4/29 Oliver amps 421 +11~400 pmps 502 +1~439

I am really hoping the R works a teeny bit more to bring him out of red.
How he zoomed up to 500+ in an hour I just don't understand.

Re: 4/29 Oliver amps 421 pmps 502 +1~439 +2~437 +3~373

Sonia,
He's big enough to consider training do the dishes maybe!
After all, he CAN reach the edge of the sink! I could pay him in steamed chicken!

whoa, big drop, looks like you found an R dose that works. Maybe it's the combo of the increase in R and the increase in Lev. Anyway, there's movement! Now hopefully he won't bounce from the fast drop...

I'll get a +4 and see where he's headed. I am liking the R to bring him down and I went with the 3 only because of the 500+. Seriously, he acts like he just runs out of juice sometimes.
I'll get up to see his +11 in the morning; I usually put off that test.
