Just got back from a lovely walk in one of our beautiful city parks to find Lulu at the lagoon :D It`s a gorgeous day out, which became even better when I found my girl in the healthy green zone.

My question is I`m going to have to give her her PM injection about an hour early. Tonight is our annual meeting of the Humane Society and I would really hate to miss it. Would there be any negative effects if I did this? Or should I wait til after the meeting and give her her shot about 3 hours late?

You have to be careful shooting early. An early shot acts like a dose increase. A late shot is like a dose reduction. If you shoot early, you could have a long night.

Remember, whenever you give her shot the next shot will be 12 hours from that. You can safely move a shot to adjust shot time 30 minutes a day (either 30 minutes at once or 15 minutes at AMPS and 15 minutes at PMPS).

When DST messed up Furball's shot one year, I did move her shot by an hour, but I knew I'd be home all day to monitor.

Some people have done 18 hour shots. If you tried that, the PM shot would be 18 hours after this morning. Then the next shot would be 18 hours after that, which would be the next PM shot. The AM shot would be skipped. I hope that makes sense.

Given Lulu's numbers of late, I would not shoot an hour early tonight, especially since you will be away afterwards. You can do as much as 1/2 hour once a day or 15 minutes each shot time. I occasionally have to move Neko's shot time by an hour for a meeting, and I'll start moving it a few days ahead of time by 15 minutes a shot.

Other options are to skip or try the 18 hours as Carla suggested. If you do shoot at +15 tonight, you'll have to move back to your regular schedule by 1/2 hour a day.

Thank you, Carla & Wendy. Looks like it will be safer to give her the shot when I get home from the meeting. I could probably take her with me :)because that`s where I found her 10 years ago, but she HATES :mad:car rides -- thinks we`re going to the vet. This is a stay-at-home indoors pussycat.
Tomorrow I have a dr apptment, so can give her her AM shot 11 hours 45 minutes after tonight`s, and be back from dr within 1 1/2 hours to test, home all day until an interview at 3:30. I`ll move the PM shot to 11 hrs 45 minutes after the AM shot.
Unless you think the 18 hour shots method is safer.
I wish I had had the foresight to plan this out like you did, Wendy. But I`m learning, slowly but surely.

It took me a while - I used to miss things at first or panic if I was even 15 minutes late getting home. Now I've learned how Neko reacts to moving her shot times so it gives me more flexibility.

You option of shooting late and gradually working her back on schedule is probably the best for keeping her sugars on track. Not everyone can do that option.

Lulu`s PM shot was 2.5 hours late and I thought her BG would be higher, but she`s nicely in the blue. I`m heading to bed to read, but setting an alarm to do a check in an hour in case I fall asleep.

She has slowed down, but another test would be good to make sure she's surfing or rising before calling it a night. Thankfully she likes to nadir early.

She's slowly coming back up, from 88 to 90 in the past hour. Think I'll drag this weary body to bed, sleep in a bit because Lulu's AM shot has moved to a later time. As always, thanks for the guidance, Wendy:)
