Hi All! Hope everyone is having a great day and your kitties are happy and doing well :)

Got a bit of a weird question tonight and have been perusing the boards to see if anyone experienced anything similar. Bijoux hasn't been on Lantus very long and I think we're finally settling into things, but I feel/sense that she goes through different mood changes throughout her cycle after the shot. Usually immediately after she gets a bit grumpy (tail thumping) and her ears will feel warm to the touch. She doesn't want much to do with me during this time. Then she'll get a bit sleepy and laze about for awhile (not abnormal after meal time, etc), and then it feels like as the Lantus wears off as her cycle progresses she becomes more like her normal, loving, cuddly and playful self.

Is there like a normalization period I should wait to see if she gets more used to the Lantus or is this something I should bring up with my vet sooner than later and discuss potentially switching the insulins? I feel like this whole transition has been pretty traumatic for Bijoux with all the changes and now I feel like every time I have to giver her a shot I'm re-traumatizing her until later in the cycle.

Sorry this is so long / thanks for reading!

She’s on such a small dose and responding well. I’d give it time. It might be the highs and lows. Usually people feel cats on high doses sometimes have issues but ECID.

Thanks Elise (as always) :) much appreciated! Patience has never been my strong suit obviously!

Do you have a rough idea how long after the shot the changes in mood occur? Just wondering if the change in her blood sugar numbers coincides with the mood changes.

It's pretty soon after like right between +1 and +2 usually if not before - so could be she's just pissed/upset with me but I'm not totally sure!
