Good Morning from flooded Northern New York,

We are still in our house (with our flooded cellar) and hoping that we won't have to evacuate. The bridge and dam that we need to cross to get to the other side of the lake and river (and thus to the highway) is in danger. Another bridge has already been closed because it is under water and people along that part of the river evacuated. We have Rusty's evacuation kit all ready in case we have to pick up and go. Fortunately we have friends who live on the "other side" and who are away; we have the key to their house, so at least we won't have to go to the Methodist church!!

Rusty had a good night and has a good bg this morning. And I gave a good shot (at least I think I did). He enjoyed 2 sittings of breakfast (the usual: Wellness turkey) and we had a good play with Big Bug and a paper bag. He's sleeping in his basket now. I'm about to go down to the cellar to begin bailing. Gotta keep ahead of the water. We had heavy rain all night and woke up to a thunder storm. Storms are expected through tomorrow. Major flooding of all the rivers is taking place. Roads have collapsed and bridges swept away. Torrential rains in some areas. So far there has only been 1 tornado sited. We feel for those people in Alabama and other parts of the south who have suffered so much from the tornadoes.

Everyone stay safe today if you are in a storm area. All ailing kitties: feel better!

Re: 4/28 Rusty AMPS 116

Oh my goodness, I hope the bridge holds and you're not forced to evacuate.

Stay safe and dry, I hope all this crazy weather doesn't effect Rusty.

Re: 4/28 Rusty AMPS 116

What crazy weather! I hope that everything will return to normal soon. Hang in there!

Re: 4/28 Rusty AMPS 116

Ella, I don't even have words. This all makes me cry.
Right now, we are sunny, with big black clouds here and there, but the wind is terrifying.
I can garden alongside of spiders and snakes, and give them no thought, but wind like this, makes me insanely scared.
I pray, you will be safe.

Re: 4/28 Rusty AMPS 116

While I would love to have some rain here, I wouldn't want what you guys are going through!! After watching the news yesterday, seeing all the flooding and tornadoes, my daughter commented that maybe there really will be a 2012 end of the world kind of thing! It does seem as if it has begun, doesn't it?

Good luck with the bailing. Look on the bright side...you're getting some good upper body exercise. You'll have magnificent biceps by the time this is all over.

Re: 4/28 Rusty AMPS 116

Hi guys .. well .. I'm glad rusty is starting out the day nice for you ... I hope the flooding stops soon and that you don't have to get evacuated .. I hope your cellar dries up soon and that you can stop bailing water .. Stay safe guys ...

Re: 4/28 Rusty AMPS 116

Pretty good start for Rusty. I didn't even know New York was going through flooding and tornadoes. That's what i get from not watching the news, I guess. The weather sure is crazy these days. We've been messing with Mother Nature for a while now, I guess it can't go unpunished forever. I hope you guys will be fine. I'm glad you have that other house option if things get bad.

Re: 4/28 Rusty AMPS 116

Ella, I haven't watched the news for a couple days, and had no idea you were still getting more rain and storms! That is unbelievable! We have been very lucky so far, missing the hail and tornados. Better not talk about it too much, though (antijinx).

Good luck with your cellar and I hope you do not have to evacuate! At least Rusty's looking good this morning.

Re: 4/28 Rusty AMPS 116

Oh my poor friends, Hope the waters receed, and you are safe--Dont take any chances, evacuate if you need to--You are our every precious friends & we worry about you!!
Hope you will be safe & all will be well--Great amps BTW!

Re: 4/28 Rusty AMPS 116

WOW - I will be thinking of you all day today. The weather there, and in the midwest are the topics of our news here. The videos we see show so much devastation, and loss of life. I hope you guys will be OK - It is nice you have a friends house that you can go too, exceptionally nice when you consider Rusty. omg on the collapsed roads, and washed away bridges. I hope the severity doesn't worsen: it takes an instant to wipe it all out, so long to rebuild. You guys are definitely in my prayers today.

I know too how impt it is to stay ahead of the water - good luck with your cellar - I am there bailing with you, at least in spirit.

Despite all that - look at Rusty! What a great amps!

Rusty!!!!!! you ok? you stay away from all that water, OK? You got them arm floatie thingies??? Just in case??? Come with us - we are heading to Gracie's, one final check n the patch, and to party prep - we gots lots of OTJ's coming up... Se you? Better some by coat.... ~~ Mannie

Re: 4/28 Rusty AMPS 116, +5.25 80

Hi again,
We're still here. The bridge and dam are closed off, but we were able to drive up the hill and get around the river (we had thought that the hill route would be closed too, since it begins right next to the dam, but so far it is open). So we bought some groceries just to be on the safe side. We also got another robo-call from the village, saying that if we had to evacuate we could go to the Methodist Church. But I think this message was aimed at people with waterfront property. In any event, there are a lot of people around.
Rusty is GREEN! We went outside briefly and it was incredibly windy. He chased a leaf and trapped it! But then he decided to come back inside.

Paws crossed against the evacuation! The weather all year has been so out of whack. I hope things calm down soon. White light and vines to everyone experiencing theses storms.

Rusty! You gotta leave? Oh! I hope not, but it's nice and dry here if you need a place to stay. We can come to get you even if the roads are out! -- Tess

What a great pic. Ann! I'm glad to see those kitties are wearing their PFDs!! That's just the way our river looks right now (usually it moves slowly).
Rusty was meowing just now downstairs (for some reason he will not come upstairs--where we work at our desks--during the daytime). So I went down to try to convince him to come and sit on his cushion on my desk. I found him sitting on his testing pillow. So I tested him, thinking he was telling me that he was low. But he wanted to tell me that he is surfing in the 80s!! Now he's quiet and happy (got his freeze-dried turkey treat).

Ella, I've been think about you all day. I'm so glad to see you've posted, and are still able to be in your home.
It's been sunny here all day now, but still incredibly windy. Hope all this wind dried up the saturated ground somewhat.

Great greens for Rusty :-D

Re: 4/28 Rusty AMPS 116, +5.25 80, +8 85

Rust sure is looking good surfin' those greens.

Yay, nice blue pmps for Rusty, and you and Edward must be still in your home.
I'm glad you're still there and I assume, safe?

Re: 4/28 Rusty AMPS 116, +5.25 80, +8 85, PMPS 128

Hi Barb and everyone,
Yep, we're still here in our own house. The late afternoon was beautiful--with sunshine!! Now, however, we're having gale-force winds, so I hope they don't blow anything else in (and that they don't blow over any trees).
Rusty ate most of his +9 snack very late, so I hope that's why his PMPS is a bit high in comparison with the earlier numbers. He had a really nice time outdoors this afternoon. Good shot this evening, too!!!!!!!

Everyone have a good evening, and thanks for thinking about us. The bridge and dam are still very much in danger. The river is way out of its banks. It is really MOVING.

Re: 4/28 Rusty AMPS 116, +5.25 80, +8 85, PMPS 128

Darn! I was hoping those horrible winds had passed out of the state by now. Ours just stopped a couple of hours ago.

It was just devastating to towns north of where I am. The ground is so saturated, that it couldn't support shallow-rooted trees, and they just toppled on top of houses, cars, electric lines, etc.

I hope Rusty doesn't feel the weather, like Checks did yesterday. He was obviously uncomfortable. I don't know if it was physical, like arthritis, or just the sound of the wind, trying to rip the roof off.
Oops, this is your condo, not mine. *grin*

Re: 4/28 Rusty AMPS 116, +5.25 80, +8 85, PMPS 128

(((((Ella))))) I am so sorry for all the trouble you guys are having....I hope the horrid weather stops and you can get a break soon....this is terrible. I am glad you have a place to go besides the church....can you imagine having to go there? I mean, it's great that it is available for people but when you think of just sitting there with Rusty and well...OMG....glad you have another house to stay in if necessary.....
BUT....
I hope you can stay in your own place and that it will be okay when all this weather stops....
Thinking of you three and hoping that you will be safe and serene....and that the weather will be serene soon too....
Hugs... :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:
