Pumbaa

Member Since 2012
Since Pumbaa was so flat yesterday, after 2 days at 0.75U, I upped him to 1.00U this morning. Hopefully, his numbers will continue to come down gently, but I'm ready for some temporary highs and lows. I'll just be patient and wait until he flattens out again before considering another dose increase. :)

Relaxed. That works better for both Pumbaa and myself. :)

Hope you all have great Saturdays! I'm thinking of Mel and saying some prayers for Lulu/Autumn today!

Lil: I hope Pumbaa is listening! :)

I'm actually looking forward to testing his numbers nowadays. A week ago, that certainly wasn't the case! *LOL*

I know that feeling.... I remember at the beginning it used to be so stressful and I was always frustrated and nervous. After a bit, I actually had fun with it! It becomes interesting to see their patterns and how they react to different things.

Whoohooo!!!! Pumbaa's numbers have been excellent so far today.

Well, not excellent as in green and ready for an OTJ trial, but excellent as in slowly going down, with three yellow readings in a row! Emphasis on the "slowly".

I know, I know...a 288 could really be a 345 if you add 20% (meter accuracy within +/- 20%) but that's too depressing to think about, so I am going to pull a Scarlett O'Hara and NOT think about it today. :)

Hopefully, we'll have a lot more yellows in the next couple of days, and pretty flat readings, but on a downward trend. If not flat, I am going to wait until the numbers do flatten out before I do any dose increase.

I meant to do this today but didn't schedule my time correctly. BJM has frequently recommended 15 minutes of exercise before feeding time, because it gets them in the hunt/kill/eat mode and exercise can bring down BG levels. A little "chase the flashlight beam" before feeding time is going to become part of the daily routine around here.

+5 tonight was 257! Another nice slow drop after his second dose at 1.00U!

I am so ecstatic you all have no clue! Slow drops, no roller coaster numbers! Even if you add on a plus of 20% for meter variances, that's still only 308 which shows that his numbers are still slowly dropping!

I can't tell you how worried I was, that, by going with my gut, and dropping Pumbaa back to 0.50U and starting over was going to bite me in the arse, but I know my cat and how he was reacting to those huge ranges of BG numbers, and how much better he reacts to calm/relaxed changes.

Tonight, I had to chase him around the house to grab him to get this last reading. That's my little Mr. Wiggle Butt acting like normal. But he did sit there very calmly for his test. I love that little guy! And I love when he's acting like his normal juvenile delinquent self!

Even if we are back in the pinks tomorrow morning due to his liver pushing sugars out in a reaction to these decreasing numbers, we will be fine. Because, right now, I doubt very much that we are going to see those damn black numbers again. I pray that we never see those black numbers again. Or red, for that matter!

I hope I didn't jinx this process by posting the above. nailbite_smile

I am so happy right now!
