Good morning,

Yesterday's condo

Yesterday
AMPS=220 (0.75u); +2=137; +3=137; +6=140; +9.5=149
PMPS=166 (0.75u); +2=200; +5=211; +7.5=218

Today
AMPS=216 (0.75u); +1=239; +2=239; +3=259; +10.5=189
PMPS=211 (0.75u); +2=221

Lucy isn't much better for me to comfortable say that she's heading to the right direction.
But she's not worse either for me to positively feel that she needs to be seen.
Her mood was better earlier this morning, but her energy and appetite are about the same.
She ate the 1st breakfast by finger-feeding, but with not much enthusiasm, and it's usually the 2nd and 3rd meals she turns her nose up.
She's still sniffly, which is one of the things the vet was concerned about, but she's often sniffly from allergy.

My dilemma is that she's been through a lot lately so I don't want to stress her anymore by taking her to the vet if not necessary.
But at the same time if this is going to develop into pneumonia, I'd like to catch it early.
And Lucy isn't being clear which direction she's heading.

I think I'll wait and see how she does with the 2nd and 3rd breakfast, and then if I still can't tell, I'll have to call the vet again.

Are you sure you can't take her temperature? I use a rectal digital thermometer that gives me a reading in less than six seconds and some vaseline. It's not easy, or that pleasant for me or the cat, but it tells me if J.D. has a fever, if I do it right.

Hi guys .. sorry to hear lucy isn't feeling her best .. So hard to decide what to do with our kitties when we know they don't want to go to the vets but if it's something you think should be done ... I'd probably take her in .. Hope she feels better soon! Have a great day guys!

Hi Mariko :-D ! I hope that Lucy perks up for you. I've been keeping up on your condos, but the pages were/are loading so slow or not at all so I haven't been posting :? . It's so hard to know and I wish they could talk to tell us. I figured I should send some vines today, in case she needs them. Any type needed, and some hugs for you! :YMHUG:

That's a good suggestion from Dyana, might be less stressful (and cheaper) than taking her to the vet. Sending many vines for Lucy and for you. (((Mariko)))

Lucy ate a little better this morning.

I think I'm going to try that, Dyana.
I am too afraid to poke in a wrong direction and hurt her... poke through or something..., but I think I'll at least try to do that this evening.
I don't have vaseline, so I'll pick that up on the way back from work, and try this evening.

Unfortunately the trick is getting it in far enough. I think it needs to be inside at least an inch. I have had J.D. measure like around 97 or so and freaked because it was low and took him to the vet who said I just didn't have it in far enough.
I get everything ready, and put J.D. on the bathroom counter surrounding the sink, and just kind of hold him there with my body and arms and just put it in slowly but at least an inch. Lucy may fight you at first (back there), but be gentle and it will all be over very quickly. I think the hard part is to get it in before the 6 seconds passes and you get a reading.

I really appreciate you checking in on Lucy.

I got vaseline.
I haven't tried tried taking her temp yet.... waiting for a better moment.
But I think she might be feeling better......she's being affectionate.

I spoke with the vet.
He thought the best course of action at the moment is to give her some more time, to not give her any more stress by another vet visit, continue with the bupe/cypro if necessary, and try to monitor her temp at home.
He said if her throat/airway is irritated from the vomit, it could take almost a week before she feels completely normal, but if her appetite/energy get worse, I am to bring her in then.
He feels it is unlikely that she has pneumonia, but more likely that she's having a mild pancreatitis flare, which could get worse if I give her more stress.
He said if I really really can't take her temp by rectal, I could try armpit.
It will not be as accurate, but it usually reads lower than rectal by about 1 degree celsius, so if her armpit temp is high, I know for sure she has a fever.

I'll try the bum first though.

I did it.
Her temp was 37.9 Celsius, so this is normal, right?
Maybe lower end of normal.... but at least no fever.
Maybe I didn't go deep enough.....
