Good Morning LL!

Finally, have a little bit of time to sit down and start a proper condo during the daytime! Kiz decided to pull an all-nighter last night with a +2 of 32  Nipped that in the bud by throwing some HC at him. I thought I would have to sit there and feed all night, but two hearty tsps did the trick, and then it was all LC after that.

I was not sure what to expect this morning, but it was a pretty typical AMPS number for him. DH shot a skinny 0.25u, though I told him last night to shoot a regular 0.25u. Kiz likes to step down slowly, but we'll see how he does with this dose as it is the dose he actually "earned" since he was getting a skinny 0.5.

I am also very hesitant to announce this, because whenever I do, I seem to jinx him, but today marks THREE WHOLE WEEKS WITHOUT ASTHMA! party_cat party_cat party_cat This is the longest he has gone without an episode since coming back from remission in February. DH and I have been holding our breath expecting him to have a flare at any time what with the stress of moving. We've also been painting, spackling, sanding (which produces all kinds of dust), putting up baseboards, dusting, scrubbing, windexing, bleaching, mowing, weed whacking, etc. All kinds of allergens are up in this house, and he is doing just fine! :? :o nailbite_smile :-D

He was dx with asthma and diabetes while we lived in the old house. The old house was entirely carpeted, and as some of you may remember, had serious air conditioning problems. His asthma seemed to go away after we got the AC repaired, so maybe there was just something about that house that was making him sick. We moved there in late 2010. Prior to that, Kizzy lived with me in a house that had all wood floors, and then when we moved in with DH in his apt, that was all tiled. The new house is all tiled, too. Hmmm. Makes you wonder!

Kizzy has a birthday coming up, on May 1st he will be 4 years old! Woohoo! I found him when he was just under 2 months old (according to the vet's estimation) and they said he was probably born late April-early May, so I picked May 1st to be the day because it's easy to remember. Mayday! Mayday! It's the Kizzy Cat's Birthday!

Kizzy is adjusting extremely well to the new place. The first day, he hid in the closet and didn't want to eat, but now he is his normal silly self, even better. He is not used to the tile, so it is hi-lar-ious to watch him take off full speed and then go sliding  He enjoys it. He also discovered he can make his nails "click" on the tile floor, and has been experimenting with making noises. Crazy cat. We had an excellent game of fetch yesterday in the living room, and he was soaring over the back of the couch, leaping over the coffee table, like a cheetah, or more aesthetically, a panther. I don't know where all this new energy is coming from, but it's wonderful to see him so playful and happy.

He has been a bit more clingy than usual, and likes to stay close to either me or DH. He follows me from room to room (which isn't unusual, actually) but if I get up while he is napping, he will start crying as soon as he wakes up and discovers himself alone in a room. He is so funny. My little shadow baby.

DH and I are doing well. In a way, this feels like our first house as newlyweds. We're getting to fix it up together, which is a lot of fun. All of our furniture is his old stuff, so I am looking forward to buying new dishes and other household thingies to make it "ours." We were married in November of 2010, so we're not really newlyweds, but it feels new and exciting for some reason. I have a term paper due tomorrow, so I will be devoting the majority of today to working on that, but I will check back in later, and after today, I will be around much more regularly. It's been strange being away from the board... it is really part of my routine and I look forward to having my firswt cup of coffee and reading condos. It is something I've missed very much... I love you guys and all the LL kitties and miss you all.

I hope everyone has a fabulous day! Sending TONS of vines to Karen, Greg, and Fur Ball, and more healing vines to Michelle, Nicholas, and Elsa.
Thank you, Wendy, for visiting us last night after we logged off.

Re: 4/28 Kismet AMPS 156, +3 177 21 Days of easy breathing

Hi Courtney, wow on the 32 and good catch. Congrats on the reducie. It's good Kismet came up so nice with the HC even though it was an all nighter. That's great news on the no asthma for three weeks, too. So glad Kizzy is adjusting so well. When I first moved here, I had Mags and her bro. They hid under the bed the first day and only came out for food and the LB. Have a nice day and hope all goes well with settling in your new home.

What a great report on Kismet and your new house. I'm glad everything is going so well and 21 days with no asthma is great. Good luck with your term paper.

Morning Courtney! or is it afternoon.... no matter! here you go anyways .... ~O) ~O) ~O)

WHOA! a 32??? NICE! and congrats on the reducie. Quite the cycle last night, it's alwyas great when they respond to the LC after the initial HC. Sheshhh I remember so many nights were I ended up with HC just to keep the Manster surfin' the 60's... crazy times, and I remember thinking why do you persist with the need for the HC. answer: Cuz he loved gravy, and I swore played his part so he cojuld get it.   It's nice to see a even blue for Kismet this morning, no big bounce at all. WONDERFUL too on the asthma. YAY!!! Perhaps it was the old place making him sick. Someone else (tarragon??) had issues with carpeting etc...

Things sound wonderful there - ENJOY! There is always something magical about a new home, fixin' it up, Just enjoying the process. So very cool that it is all coming together.

Enjoy your day today - it all sounds GREAT!

What a wonderful condo!!! You guys are busy and have your hands full, but it sounds like everything is falling in place beautifully! How wonderful that Kizzy is breathing easy...fingers crossed his asthma was caused by the old house and he stays on track in your new place. I have hardwood floors everywhere, and it really is a hoot to watch the kitties try and put on the brakes, isn't it  !

Good luck with that paper!! Congrats on the reducie!!!

Re: 4/28 Kismet AMPS 156, +3 177 21 Days of easy breathing

Hi Courtney & congrats to Kismet on his three weeks of no asthma. Good job last night on keeping him in the safe numbers. Looks like he likes the mini reduction.

Glad you guys are enjoying the new home. It's possible that the air ducts in the old house were full of dust and mites or maybe even some mold. If so everytime your A/C or heater came on it was getting blown throughout the house. Of course that would bother Kismet's asthma. Anyway it's great that he's doing better in your new place.

My wife & I will have been married 45 years in August. Here is a tip from me to your DH on how to have a long & happy marriage. Here is my secret: 50% of the time my DW does what she wants to do and 50% of the time I do what she wants to do! Hey..it works.

Have a great evening Courtney and good luck with your term paper.

Woohoo, Kismet!  And that's wonderful that your asthma is quieting down. You are such a handsome guy but I am a bit biased toward black cats. I hope you made good progress on your paper, Courtney.

Re: 4/28 Kismet AMPS 156, +3 177 21 Days of easy breathing

Huzzah! :RAHCAT :RAHCAT :RAHCAT I just produced a paper entitled “There’s hell, there’s darkness, there is the sulphurous pit”: Monstrous Femininity in King Lear and 8,000 words later, my semester has finally come to a close! WOOHOOO! Dance with us, LL! dancing_cat dancing_cat dancing_cat dancing_cat This is one happy bean right here.

Many thanks to you all for stopping by and wishing us good luck. I am so excited, it's going to be hard to sleep tonight. What a relief. Now I just have to sit and wait to see if my 4.0 remains intact... nailbite_smile This is my final semester of coursework, so it will be really exciting if I managed to pull off 4 A's, but after the challenges of this semester, from my dx of hyper-t, to Kizzy's return from remission, to our unexpected move... it will be nothing short of a miracle.

Thank you, Liz

My papers this semester were interesting, methinks, and I am proud of them. For my James Joyce seminar, I wrote about the transgressive grotesque body in Ulysses, for my Keat's paper I wrote about melancholy and mourning, and in my Shakespeare paper I just wrote about feminism and queer theory. How awesome is that? I wrote about defecation, ejaculation, menstruation, melancholy, mourning, sexuality, gender constructions, language, and deconstruction. My head is swarming with Helene Cixous, Julia Kristeva, Bahktin, Freud, Benjamin, Judith Butler, and Eve Sedgwick. Just how I like it.
