Good day everyone,

Juba's condo yesterday:

We just got back from the vet's and Juba's BG was 156.
We told our vet all what we have been doing and how much we've reduced in dosage since our last visit 2 weeks ago.

Our vet suggested stopping the insulin and checking Juba every 12 hours to see how she's doing.

I feel we want to keep Juba going at 0.05u and checking her every few hours to see where her numbers are.

Should I keep with our original plan?

I decided to skip her dose this morning.
I have an interview this afternoon and won't be be able to monitor her throughout the day, so we are going to try this new +9 snack and giving her 1 drop tonight.
Hopefully she will be fine throughout today.

I agree that, when possible, letting her have just that tiny little 1 drop dose for a few days is probably a good idea just to make sure that as the depot from the 0.1 unit dose clears out, she doesn't go just a little higher. If you can keep her on just a touch of insulin for a little longer, it will help to make remission stronger. I know it's a lot of work and tiring, but I do think it's worth it in the end to give her the best chance you can at going, and staying, OTJ. That said, she's doing amazingly well - and so quickly too! And I completely agree with skipping the dose when you have an interview - you don't need to be worrying about Juba's numbers while you're concentrating on interviewing well this afternoon. Me again,

Tonight Juba was 117 PMPS.
I can't believe she's dropped since this morning and hasn't had any insulin since last night!
So...should we still give her a drop tonight to keep her smooth sailing?
Oh and I also should add Juba got a snack at +9.5 (dozed off and woke up at +9.5 instead of +9.)

Even if she were about to start an OTJ trial, we suggest starting on a green preshot.

I'd give her her insulin and continue with this dose until she goes below 50.

I think I would give the 0.05 dose if you can - she's still sitting around the high end of normal now and she was a bit above for at least some of the day. It looks as though she's close to being ready for a trial, but maybe not quite there just yet.

@manxcat419 My interview went great! I'm really hoping I get this job because it's only 2 days/week and one of the day's my husband has off so he will be able to monitor Juba.
I can't wait for the trial period to (hopefully) start in the near future!

My husband got home from work just as I'd started typing so I finished up cross-posting with Julie on the dose after stopping halfway through typing to ask how his day went.

I'm so glad your interview went well - it sounds like the days would be perfect for you being able to monitor Juba too! Paws crossed they call you with good news really soon!
